Question Help My Bose 6disk cd changer won't play or eject

I have an 04 RX8 with the Premium Sound Bose package. I inserted a cd and it said check cd. so i hit eject and then it quit working. You can hear it spinning around but it doesnt say anything anymore such as eject or anything. It wont play- it says cd in. I thought my car had waranty left when I bought it, to find out that I dont. HELP I dont know what to do. I tryed to get it to eject by disconnecting the battery-- none came out

The forum has a solution for this. Take the car stereo out...disconnect the head unit from the dash piece....reattach and plug back in. You should be good after that.

Check out this link. It will show you how to safely remove your radio unit. I think you are only concerned with the first 6 pages.

Actually I don't think that is the problem.. that is the case when the controls stop working.. but music and everything still works with the steering wheel controls..

her problem is something in the cd player itself. try to disconnect and reconnect the battery to kind of "reset" it

when that doesn't work take it to the dealer for a replacement

OR

get a MP3 cd player or the 6 disk player replacement for it

To me it sounds like the Load button is stuck. Hopefully it is the button or face and not the fact that someone tried to shove something other than a CD in there.

If it still makes the normal loading and unloading noises, something may be jammed. If it were me, I'd pull the radio and disassemble the changer unit to see if it's something obvious. If i didn't find anything, I'd replace the changer unit with an MP3 CD unit purchased from one of the fine vendors here.

If you're out of warranty and the damn thing wont work anyways, you don't need to worry about breaking the changer when you take it apart.

It really depends on how mechanically inclined you are.

It's toast. This is a known problem with the Bose (and other makes for that matter) changer units. After about 3 years or so, the plastic drive gear for the load/change disc function cracks and you're done.

I'd put in the MP3 unit.

i have actually had the exact problem happen to me and every time i turned on my car you could hear it try to eject itself but nothing would happen and since i never really had time i didnt get a chance to take it to the dealership to get checked out and after about two or three months one day the cd just came out on its own and i didnt have a problem with loading or ejecting the cds anymore but another problem occured where when i drove even over the slightest bump the cd would skip A LOT luckily my warranty hadn't ended yet so i took it in and they sent in a replacement but i had to do it twice because when i got it back the first time i found out they put in a single disc player so i had to go in again and wait for them to get the 6 disc changer in and get it put in again
