Head unit

Hi everbody

I'm not to familiar with electronics or how the RX8 radio/ head unit work with aftermarket subs or amps. Or if an aftermarket head unit was capable of being put into my car
Im looking to add some bass to my 8 so i went to circuit city today just to browse their subs and what not.
I was talking with the guy working there and he was trying to help me out but I didnt have my car with me and he wasn't to aware of the styling of the dash.

I know that theres plenty of people with sound systems in their rx8s so i was wondering if anybody has pictures of their aftermartket headunits or if anybody even changes that component out.
Also i have the standard sound system. no bose.

before you get flamed for not searching I'll try to help you out because you seem like a nice guy -

Yes you can add anything to the RX8

if you want just subs all you need is a good Line Output converter (LOC) and tap the rear speakers for signal, add your own amp and your good

you can do pretty much the same thing if you want to change all the speakers in your car

you can change the HU if you want.. there is a (lame) single din unit you can put above your nav screen in the center dash piece.

or you can get the corksport kit - which replaces your current Hu with a 2 din slot for a good nav system of your choice.

the hard part about changing the HU is the AC controls are built into it - so when you lose the HU you lose controls. the corksport has a seperate controler but it's pretty pricey. (if your just shopping around at circuit city, i'm guessing it's probably out of your pricerange)

a good shop can custom fab a unit in there, but again because of the controls it's gonna cost you

basically if you are serious - go to a REAL car audio shop... and do A LOT of searching and ask A LOT of questions.. and provide lots of detail when you are posting on here.. we'll get you straightened out..

Look at my sig for some good ideas
