Are the gauges available in Metric? And is that ugly GlowShift logo removable?

you could possibly remove the glowshift logo, but that would involve taking the gauge apart.

in other news, my oil gauge pressure sending unit failed on me, its been giving me erratic readings. glowshift is sending me another if I pay for the shipping, $8.

Ugh thats a pain in the a$$.

BTW what size of water temp adapter did you use in the end? I see you were considering 34mm or 38mm here: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/upper-radiator-hose-id-water-temp-adapter-192088/, but that was because you were attaching to upper radiator hose, which caused problems with lack of coolant flow. In hindsight which size would you recommend and where would you recommend attaching?

Also after all the hassle installing, leaking oil and failed sending unit - is it worth it?!!

since heat and lack of oil are two killers for any car, having real gauges is worth it.

Are there extra parts required if you use the RB adapters (since they have some 3/8" pipes)? If so can you provide link(s) to them? I'm shipping all this stuff from the US to Ireland so want to get it right first time as shipping is not a negligible cost for me

thanks

well both my senders fit in the oil sandwich plate, but for the water adapter i just got just a simple adapter that changes the size of the hole, which i bought in the plumbing aisle at a local Home Depot, so you can get that if you have a home depot or equivalent home improvement store.

The Prosport sandwich plate has more appropriately sized holes the the RB: no adapters required. Compared to boiling water, one of my Glowshift temp senders was 4 deg F low, the other, about 10 deg. The standard place to put the water temp sensor for add-on gauges is in the lower radiator hose at a joint where there's already a factory connection between two hose pieces. It's on the passenger side, under the battery tray. I'm questioning though how useful it is in that location. It's measuring the temp of the water from the radiator. At highway cruise, with everything warmed up, the OBDII sensor reads 180 deg and the gauge 164 F on an 80 deg F day. Putt-putting around town, this can go up to 200/205 or so. What really counts is the OBDII/engine reading, which is only indirectly given by the gauge sensing water being sent to the engine. In the event of a stuck thermostat, this gauge will only indirectly and slowly show an overheat condition. All one can say is that the engine temp is no colder than the gauge reading.

well the reason for the gauge reading that on cruise is because the thermostat is closed on highway cruise.. so the temperature it shows on the gauge is the coolant stuck in that lower radiator hose where you installed the temperature sending probe.

ideally you'd want the temp probe installed where the coolant is always flowing directly from the motor.. which is where the rb sender is installed.

as a side note, when the thermostat is closed and coolant is actively flowing through that lower radiator hose my AP and Gauge coolant temp readings have been within 3f of each other.

Is this possible with the 34mm adapter/sender from GlowShift?

If not sounds like it might be best to get the prosport oil plate and the RB temp plate and then get the required 3/8 to 1/8 adapter. Sounds like its readily available......

No its not possible to put the 34mm adapter anywhere but the radiator hose.

I suggest you get the RB Adapter and install it where they recommend you too which is further upstream. I am going to be doing this next time I see a used RB adapter FS.

I have the same gauges and have a question. I am in the process of installing a water temp, oil temp, and oil pressure gauge into a Lotek dash pod. My question is this for power supply the Glowshift digital series call for an ignition controlled wire to be connected to an ignition controlled source. I was planning on utilizing the ashtray. The second source calls for a headlamp controlled source. Where might I find this? I have been researching this for hours now with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For a light relay controlled supply, the easiest to get to is the glove box light, but if you have the ashtray out anyway, you could use the lighter surround bulb.

Good luck!

If I missed it, sorry, but, how deep are they? Pictures look like about an inch. Could not find specs on web site.

Thanks, thinking about putting higher up in dash, below radio controls, but I know there is some stuff behind that panel.

Just to ensure that we are on the same page you are saying that the lighter surround bulb is only live when the cars headlamps are on, right? If so do you know which wire this would involve?
