I want to put make a custom box to put in the trunk of my rx8.
I was thinking about putting them in the left and right back corners and 2 back against the seats.(if you can picture it) I just don't know how to go about building something to hold the subs in the front corners of the trunk because of the weird shape. Any ideas??

That thread is extremely dated, though the methods are solid. We have several options for holding 12"s now that are head and shoulders better than the box he made. At the time, they weren't available.

Anyway, it sounds as though the OP was looking more for "wheel well" style boxes versus that whole trunk style box built in the thread. Op, if you'll kindly view the FAQ thread at the top of the forum, there's a link to a bunch of boxes designed for the RX8. Couple wheel well boxes in there, though I don't think you can find the 4080 boxes anymore. The wickedcas boxes might fit in with the regular Zen box along the back seats. Really don't know.

Though it might be best to just go custom from the start. Wrap fiberglass from one tail light around the box seats up to the other taillight. MDF or fiberglass face. Your choice. Amp(s) in the sunken floor area. Lots of work man. But entirely possible......and entirely unnecessary. But I've talked to enough people to know I can't talk people out of stuff like this. lol

I was set for the longest time getting custom fiberglass for my 2 12s, it would have looked nice. Really really nice. But not worth the time or money when it comes to actual application. The deciding factor for me was the fact that it's in a closed trunk. I mean, how often are you going to see them/ be able to show them off aside from when you showcase them to your friends for a few minutes..

The custom enclosure won't really affect the sound quality enough to make any noticable difference, it's time and money consumption is purely for aesthetic satisfaction - even then, how often are you going to be standing outside by your open trunk using your sound system? Wouldn't it make more sense to think the majority of the subs' lives will be active while you're driving.. you'd be in the drivers seat... not behind your car? Unless of course you're running block parties / competing.

tl;dr - save your time and money, get a regular box and throw it in there!

Just my biased two cents.
