Changing map lights question - grounded?

I have my console out and switched out the bulbs... but they aren't coming on. Note, I haven't installed the console back completely. Wires are attached, but it's just dangling. Does mounting it ground it or something (metal tabs on side)? I'd like to make sure they are working before I put it back in... not too fun to get it out. =)

Assuming the old bulbs were functional, but them back in for a second and see if those come on. If they do, then it's not counting on the chassis for ground. If they don't then you could clip a wire on the chassis to the metal case on the console just to find out.

no, having the actual map light unit tucked into the roof shouldnt make a difference. just make sure the wires are attached and that the black plastic bulb-holders are twisted completely in their sockets.

I'm not sure, but I don't think he's talking about the map light?

I'm such a dork. Turns out that 1 bulb wasn't seated properly, and the other was in reverse. I didn't know there was a reverse... I just got lucky on all the previous ones I installed... hah!

Thanks for the tips... Such an easy solution staring you in the face but you don't see it because your flustered... (put in old bulb).

Thanks!
