Whenever someone calls me, the stereo seems to pick up static. Is it normal and is it something I can fix easily?

never had it, what brand of phone? (nextel phones at work make the radio fizz)

My Sony Ericsson S710 will cause minor static noise when placed around head unit. The beat-up V3 Razor emits noise even when it's in glove box....

depends on placement of your phone, head unit, speakers, any other wireless signal around you at the time, and any other objects around you at the time.

my speakers at work get static when my cell phone gets a call or message. unless I place my phone behind something else on my desk.

I haven't had this happen in the RX-8 but my previous car and old phone did it constantly. Sorry I don't know of a specific fix, just try moving the phone to a different location in the car.

Happens to me too Kohc, and I also have a Sony Ericsson, but I have the W600i. The speakers always catch the static atleast a little.

It's very common with GSM phones, you'll hear it before a call or SMS comes in.
