I tried pulling out my stereo and wasn't successful. I tried using the directions from this page http://whatsmyip.org/ipodrx8/
I have a 2004 RX8. Can anyone give me some advice on how to remove this thing. I even tried to bring it in to a Car Stereo joint ( JD CAR STEREO ) it's pretty renowned in Montreal and they wouldn't even take a look at it. They said it was too hard.
What should I do?
Thanks

make sure you remove the godl bolt thats located in the back of the stereo, you can get to it by the driver side by the gas pedal. If you did already do that then the first time you take it out the wires in the back are held together with blue electrical tape. If you can get something back there try it other wise use 2 hands one behind the stereo and one in the front of the stereo above the ash try and slowly pull/push. It should some out. You gotta give it a little elbow grease the first time, do it on a hot day so that tape will release easily. After the first time you do it that tape won't be there anymore and it just pops in and out.
DO NOT try and pry it out from the front with a screw driver or anything, i tried that when it wouldn't come out and i strached the plastic in the front. if you have the bolt and all the screws taken out just push from the back and pull from the front

Getting that bolt out is the most important thing. It's a bitch to find too. I had to take the plastic cover below the steering wheel off, and the metal plate beneath it before i could even see the thing and reach it with a socket and extension rod. Make sure you pulled the right bolt if it really wont budge. Otherwise you just have to hard on it and it will POP loose. Then take the glove box out and reach back there to get all the plugs disconnected and slide it out completely.

Firstly Do NOT forget to remove the negative from the battery. Now if you removed the side bolt just shake it from the bottom a little hard and it will come out...Watch out for the connectors!
