Has any one changed their radio out with an after market one, like JVC, Apline, Sony? I didn't think you could with how the setup is but wasn't sure. Is the Bose system upgrade worth getting?

MANY people are not happy with the Bose system. I have the base sytem and added a 200 watt amp, and a 10 sub woofer.

There are many threads related to changing the radio/CD package....but I'm here to tell ya, getting that CD player out is a royal PAIN!!

Do a search on CD player and you'll find many posts with a lot of pictures as well. Good luck.

I have been lurking on this site for several months. I'm waiting for the 05's. In any event, I have been reading all about the radios, and I think your amp / sub advice with the base model is the way to go. I will just use my fm transmit. on my ipod for my mp3's.

My question, though, and please exucse my ignorance, what does it take to hook up the amp and sub to the base model? is the amp for only the sub? and what do you run that out of?

(i know home audio, not car)

i have everything running off the base radio and it sounds sh*tty... i'm getting the head unit installed this weekend, will have pics of the custom install soon... i've got high end equipment, diamond audio components and subs and precision power amps, the base radio doesn't cut it...

is it a standard head unit? what kind of custom install does it take to get into the dash?

you're not going to get anything in the dash til they come out with a kit or something.... i'm going above the dash, where the NAV would be if i had got it.... there are some pics on here of where it's been done by others..... mines is going to look better than those, the entire piece has been sprayed and looks like the shiny, black plastic around the radio and window button on the doors... my head unit is an alpine cva 1005, motorized LCD......

yes you can add a new headunit...you just cant put it in the dash unless you are up for alot of custom work.
