Audio Link & blinking TPMS Light

The AudioLink MP3 player with SD reader has caused my TPMS warning light to blink after 10 minutes or so of highway driving.

Donny at RPM said he has recently had other Mazda owners with this same problem and does not have a solution.

Has anyone out there with the AudioLink product experienced this, and if so, did they find a solution with the routing of the cables or placement of the unit? Mine is located in the glove box. Also, if anyone has the audiolink without a blinking TPMS light, where did they place their unit to accomplish this?

Thanks for the help. The members of this forum are awesome!

I have my adaptor "mounted" in the empty space just below the CD dash unit (behind the dash, when the audio unit is out, where the tape or mp3 player would have been if equipped with such). The wire then goes to the XM unit which sits in the center console. No blinking TPMS. But did you have the dealer chack your TPMS system (sensors and receiver)?

When I removed the AudioLink, the blinking problem resolved. When I put it back, it started again. Prior to the AudioLink, there were no problems with the TPMS system.

I thought about mounting it through the stereo faceplate so the SD card slot can be accessed.

Alex, do you have the AudioLink with the SD, USB and mini inputs?

the tpms system is monitored wirelessly. The wheel sensors wirelessly transmit wheel pressure data to your car. there must be some sort of interference with the audiolink module and the wireless sensing unit. Is the audiolink mounted near the radio, or do you have it in the glovebox?

Tried it with the audiolink in the glovebox and outside the glovebox, but same results. How can the interference be stopped?

Ya know, Im hoping you find an answer to this. Mine randomly starts blinking after usually 10-15 minutes, sometimes never blinking, but generally seems more likely after travelling on the highway.

I havent brought it to Mazda yet, but at the same time, I KNOW it happened right after installing the Audiolink. Very odd indeed. I wonder if you wrapped the audiolink in something that prevents interference somehow... I'm in way over my head at this point haha.

The problem is with the AudioLink. Please call Donny at RPM. He thinks that only 3 customers have this problem, and my guess is they all may with the latest version of the audiolink. You won't know you have the problem if you do little highway driving, or the wheels have been changed to no TPMS, whereas the blinking already exists. The more people that complain, the more pressure the manufacture has on fixing the unit. Plus, it is my understanding that all new 2008 (and newer) cars come with TPMS. This would mean that the AudioLink units for ALL cars will have this problem. What gets me is why is this unit putting out ANY RF frequency. I wonder if it shares the same circuit as the bluetooth enabled units?

Thread Bump

Its hard to imagine that the Audio Link would be creating a enough EMI on a specific frequency to interrupt communications. Here are the listed frequency for lear type TPMS (what Mazda uses)

http://www.bartecusa.com/tire_pressure_sensors.htm
125 Khz and 309 Mhz

That being said. I have an audio link and a flashing tpms but only as of late. the tpms worked great for the two 3 months I had the Audiolink in. I will attempt to create a EMI shield using some stuff from around the house (Aluminum Shielding Tape) to see if I can fix it. The other possible option I could see is the Audiolink creating a high frequency distortion in the 12v power. If thats the case that could take a lot more time to solve. Maybe incorporating an inductor in the to power line. Either way I will try and keep you posted on a solution.

I also have this problem, TPMS flashes randomly, no discernible pattern. Only happens when the link is in the car, doesn't seem to matter where i put it (but i have not tried in the aux/tape bay because i have other gear there). Flashing seems to happen at highway speeds far more often than around town.
