Strakes and other products. Merger for Polyurethane accessories
Hello everyone.
I know there has been a huge interest in finding out about the products that derwankle and myself have been producing. I also understand there has been a lot of requests for what the pricing is and how to order these.
I am making the announcement that him and I have entered into a joint venture in producing the highest quality RX-8 accessories for our RX-8s. We have been talking about production and other ideas for some time now ever since the first thread I submitted about making the strakes in Polyurethane. It came to be known that John (derwankle) was also developing these and other items when I came out with this thread. He made a statement about the material that I knew was more than a fleeting interest so I contacted him and this started the communication between us. Turns out both of us have had an interest in doing such since the first thread where antichristpm, God rest his sole, first produced a poly strake set but decided to quit before he got started. He realized the work involved was too much and was not dedicated to bring these products to you. When John first introduced his version, I knew it was the surface that I had been trying to attain. I felt that he was using a superior process so I approached him with an idea that we both agreed would be better for the two of us. Merger. We submitted our ideas and lists of the things we were thinking about producing. Many were the same. This even strengthened our thoughts about going in this direction.
There are other vendors which sell similar products or even the OEM accessories. We both felt the prices they charge are too great and both of us independently decided that we could make these high quality custom replicas at a lesser price and in some versions at even higher quality. Since we were both paralelling each other in products and with future projected products, we came to an agreement to combine our efforts so that we can provide equivalent quality items using the same processes to the members of this forum.
What makes us different than the other vendors? We actually own and drive an RX-8 daily as do most of you. Not many of the other vendors can actually state that. We have something in our posession that we can use to model these items from that we can look at and experiment on. We drive the same car as you and have the same enthusiasm about our cars as you do.
This venture is not going to get us rich quick, we know that we still have to work a full time job to support ourselves and our families. This means we are dedicating much or our free time to make these custom products just for you. Because of this we appreciate your patience in waiting as we are sure you will find it well worth it when you receive your custom, hand made, hand finished product.
We know the RX-8 is a fun car to drive. We also know the looks we get when we are behind the wheel. We too know the prices we have to pay for Accessories from Mazda. We know that they are inflated and that we can provide at least as high a quality for a much more affordable price. As the name RX8Fun implies, this is a car that is Fun to drive but also fun to make unique in your own style and way.

I was in negotiation with Mr. Alphapenguin for a proposed set of three-per-side, paid in advance, the whole nine yards, then he backed out. (Full refund, no problem with Mr. Penguin, he is, and was, a class act.)
Contacted Mr. 'demenac' and put in an order for his first set of 'six', but no real progress.....
Had long ago contacted 'Derwankel' (about that awesome spoiler), and was 'Order #1, Six to Canada'....felt kinda bad that demenac wasn't first, but that's the way it bounces....
So I feel much better that the two have merged, I am sure the whole community will benefit!
