Paint

Just looking for some opinions. Theres this paint shop called sprayglo. I couldnt find any reviews for the one in town so I went there personally. There was a 350 there that had his pain done and looked pretty good (for going with the cheap option that has no real gloss).

After talking to them I definitely am no going with a different color (they said the would do the outside and door jambs, thats it) but, I thought I would just have them redo the factory color (brilliant black) since theyll just be doing the outside I figure it will be ok. Get rid of the huge scraps and scratches that previous owner made. Total cost $1075.

What do you more experienced rx8 owners think?

Do not go with them. It may be cheap, but it's for a reason. I had two vehicles painted with them out in Florida, one that was garage kept the other lived outside. The one stored outside looked good for about 3 years then started to fad. The other looked fairly good but the body work they did, on both vehicles to take out dents SUCKED! Go with someone else. Not worth to go the cheap route.

Im pretty sure no matter where you go the bottom line is. the more money you spend the better the paintwork will be. it all depends how much you're willing to spend

Not all paint is created equal.

A shop could use the cheapest urethane enamal on your car and only pay about $30 for the paint, reducer, and hardener. Or, they could buy a really good, 2-stage paint for more like $200-$300 and then add a clear topcoat. And that's not even addressing the prep work and primer.

Cheap paint jobs are never worth it unless your intent is to sell the car quickly; and then make sure it's to someone you'll never see again.

$1100 is pretty good and sounds about right. where are you located? If you are in Socal... contact AR AUTOBODY in Palmdale, Ca. Trust me. Ask for Alex (the owner)
