Lightbulb HID Conversion Kit

I own a base 6sp RX8, and so it didnt come with the xenon headlights. Looking to purchase an HID Conversion kit for the RX8, and came across this kit on E-bay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTHE...spagenameZWDVW

The seller says that other H7 kits will not work with the RX-8 as the RX-8 has special "adaptors". The guy has a 98.7 % positive rating, with almost 5000 sells, but im not sure if his information is correct. Anyone have any input on the matter? I did a search, and i didnt find anything about someone doing an HID conversion kit on our cars, but im hoping someone might have some information about our headlights which may be useful.

Thanks.

Generally, they're cheaper than this. I think the 340 bucks is for the "adapter" for the 8. If this adapter isnt necessary, then I'm not going to bother with the 340, and will just go with the cheap 100 dollar ebay kits like rxb ike has.

Yes adapter is necessary. It is the base that the bulb plugs in to to fit in the housing. I have ordered two of the bases to see if I can modify them to fit with the straight h7 bulbs. They cost 13 each from the dealer, still cheaper than the ebayer but who know
I'll let you know when they arrive

I did contact an MTEC dealer and they do indeed make a mazda specific kit since these little adapters are in the 3 and 6 series also. The price for the kit retails for 399 each and non vehicle specific is 379.00. The bulbs themselves are 120/pair.
I should get my sockets today and play over the weekend

This is interesting. The kit i saw on e-bay was 340, cheaper than the prices you put up, but still pretty damn expensive. Keep us posted on your install, bike. Good luck.

If you look to this post.

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-exterior-appearance-body-kits-27/aftermarket-hid-installed-pics-info-105521/

you will see that an aftermarket HID was installed with the stock Halogen projectors and it works beautifully.

HID conversion kit install...

Hey does anyone have any suggestions on where to place the ballast for the hid conversion kit, I just received mine and am dying to put them in. Also what did you guys use to adhere the ballast to wherever you decided to place it? Please help.
