Alright,

so I NEVER run my fogs because frankly, halogen mixed with an HID just looks retarded to me. I want to fix this so I can use them since they are there and well, I want to use them. I have tried my best to research and so far feel like it's just a matter of choice between HID and LED. My problem is, I don't want anything beyond the factory HID look(4300K). A few Ebay kits advertise 5000K to be the best thing for HID, and for the cost I can go to an LED kit with less hardware to install, but I'm having trouble finding an H11 LED that burns at 4300K.

Has anyone found a reliable LED or HID that matches the factory HID's? At this point I don't care about price as long as it's not obsured and the quality/warranty are on par.

I suppose it would be nice to find matching parking lights well since mine look pretty yellow glaring from the headlight lense as well.

Hoping to find matching 4300K hardware as I don't want to jump to 6K just to make sure everything matches glowing from the front, suppose I will if I have to. I would just prefer to find matching stuff so I can order it and be done with it.

HIDs just plain don't belong in foglights. period. unless all you care about is looks in place of functionality.

there is a reason that no car manufacturer makes HID fog lights

brighter isn't always better. that's why you don't turn on your high beams in foggy conditions. or i don't know. maybe you do...

question on this (sorry to thread-jack, but it may result in good info for your purchase)...
I understand that white light (especially at high levels, causes greater reflection from fog which naturally has a high RFI, thus reducing visibility), but wouldnt HIDs with a yellow tint, via lense-overlay perhaps, provide greatly improved visibility in such conditions (given this may not go along with the aesthetics some are looking for) ?

If your going for functionality, yes, you want an amber light to emit from your fogs. Halgon isn't going to make any bit of difference as an HID would in a Foggy situation. I don't think an overlay will justify the right light output to counter the Fog though. You will want a bulb that emits an amber light. There are some out there, not sure where or how much. I am sure PIAA makes one, they make everything in a bulb.

Personally, I don't need an amber light for Fog driving. I live in TX in a suburb, so far in 2010 there has been only one day that it has been Foggy enough to have needed amber lighting. My commute is extremely short(7.5 miles one way). For that short of a drive and that one time a year, I won't need amber lights. I rather get matching bright driving lights so I can see down those dark roads that for some reason are paved but have no lighting systems setup. So for me, it will be practical to have a bright fog/driving light vs an amber light. If I lived in a climate that had a lot more fog I, no doubt, would go for the amber color instead.

Back to the topic though, I am going to go with an LED bulb for this setup. I wanted to get HID's to match, but for the complexity already involved in swapping bulbs, the LED setup will be a lot more practical. Just have to find a bulb now that is between 4300K and 5000K. I put some 5000K LED parking lights in a few weeks ago, they match the Headlights really well!

Yellow Fogs FTW...

Hyper White, "Cool Blue", etc...only convert your functional front fog lights into accessory lighting. Personally, I believe in Form AND Function. Yellow tinted, or even HID 3K "yellow" Fogs are the best for this combination; otherwise, you risk looking "looking cool" when you drive your car into something on the one foggy day where you live.

I'm starting to get sold on the idea to make them amber/yellow.

The HID's are doing fine keeping the road lite up during night time driving. I'm looking at these now :-)

I think most fog lights are yellow, but umm.. are there white ones?

There's a difference between yellow because they are halogens and "Hyper Yellow" which looks like a yellow crayon. I think Hyper Yellow fogs look the best, especially with blueish tinted HID low beams. Makes the car look more professional, and well rounded. when you have HIDs mixing with "yellowish" halogen bulbs, it looks like crap.

Awesome over functionality. I travel a lot so the awesomeness would be best spent in seeing in foggy, and/or snowy nights.

for HID to be remotely functional in fog, they have to be the R type and be used with their appropriate lenses. D1R, D1R, etc. these are the ones that have the ligh/dark "cutoff beam like the OE Xenon's do
