What brand of 194 LED bulbs did you order, and from whom?
Thanks for any info.

You mention the highbeams can use either H9 OR 9005.

Are they the same, or some modifications are necessary to use one or the other.

I see much more availability of 9005 compared to H9.

Which 9005 version will fit the socket, I see on Sylvania's website, there are 9005, 9005 CB, LL, ST, XS, XSCB and XSLL!!!

If H9 and 9005 are the same, why the different codes?

Thanks for any help.

H9's a code you'll find on JDM hyperwhites and import "super-bulbs",9005's a number you'll see domestically.
As to "9005 XXXX" I don't know,it's likely application codes.
Check with your dealership to ascertain, and post what you find, here, please.

Great Thanks!!!!!

Any idea why this info is not in the Owner's Manual correctly? (i.e. it says WY21W for the blinker bulbs in the manual)

Cause the car is made in Japan, and marketed worldwide, and we're just looking for US sizes.

Well from what I can see you can get the Chrome (stealth) blink either amber or super white. The Xenon (blue) will obviously be super white when it blinks. If you want the stealth look you should go for the Chrome. What color it should blink is you're choice. Of course by law I think you should get the Chrome Amber.

From the multiple threads I've read, and the problems some have had it (also the 8's manual), it seems the orange turn signal bulbs are NOT 7440 but WY21W. AND they ARE NOT IDENTICAL !

Apparently the 7440 sort of fit, or not, maybe with shaving some bit off the bottom if plastic, or extra force if glass. Some say the 7440s don't fit correctly, or don't work reliably. Still some seem to be using them (perhaps all 7440 are not created equal or identical??). What's up with this??

Maybe the list should reflect this for the unweary DIYer?

Cool PreacherGuy.....

Preacher, you have the rear running lights down as '194's, aren't they the built-in LED markers?

I've also been looking all over town for those H9 hi beams, now I hear they are also known as 9005s.....DOH!

Rear runners ARE LEDs.....oops! :D
Yeah,9005's are easy to find....H9's (the code) is usually associated w Pia-type bulbs and the other overpriced "off-road only" too-high-wattage replacements that'll fry your harness.
Imo Sylvania 'true-blues' in the appropriate wattage,w a bluer spectrum,is a fine replacement for the yellowed stock bulbs....

They are 7440s. I bought some stealth bulbs, probably from the same place as you, they were pretty cheap but I needed to shave them a bit to fit. If we had gotten 7440s from a different maker then they would had fit perfectly. Another site that sells the stealth 7440s boasted that the chrome was better and you wouldn't have to shave the bulbs, but it cost 5x as much.

I also bought some 4 LED hyper whites for the parking lights, however I wasn't able to get to the right parking light near the ECU. The ECU box just blocks my hand too much I couldnt get my fingers in there deep enough. I tried getting in from the wheel well when I did my clear sidemarkers, but it was too far away. The left side was easy I changed the bulb to the hyper white and really liked the look, but I put the old bulb back in since I couldnt change out the right one. I suppose I could of removed the ECU cover but it has wires tied down on it and if I cut those loose I need to get some tie wraps to fasten them back down after I am done. I think I am going to get either 6 or 9 LED hyper whites anyway the 4 LED just didn't seem bright enough.

GSXRS,
Yes,you can replace those lights, they're a bitch,I had the dealer install a set of 6-LED SuperBlues, and now they're the same color as the HIDs when they're lit.
(A VAST improvement!)
I need to do the H9/9005 Fogs and my hi-beams shortly,then I'm
on a break,I've dropped about $5K on 'mods....time to think/Jamaica,instead.... :D

Just a word of warning on the 9005s for highbeams... I ordered a whole bunch of bulbs from autolumination.com (fantastic service and prices btw) but the 9005s were the right size for the socket/plug type thingie, but the pins were not the same inside, they were wider apart than the H9s it ships with, so they just wouldn't go.

Also, the reverse lights, very very dim, I actually ended up putting the stockers back in, figured I could get away with dim indicators, but can just see myself explaining to my insurance company why someone ran into me while I was reversing...
