Which is right?
Hi, I'm new to the Rx-8 community, and just bought a 2004 Rx-8 with 80,000 Km. I was hoping I could get some suggestions on what ECU you would all recommend to me to purchase? I want to get as much Hp and Torque increase as I can, but I don't want to spend a lot of money (I just moved so tight for cash, but wanting to know my options). I've heard of e-Manage Ultimate, etc., but which one is best and cheap?
If anyone has any ideas for me, let me know. Currently my car only has C.O.A., as I just bought it a few days ago.
Thanks in advance,
Ty

Especially seeing as how you live in Saskabush, because seriously, I doubt there are many RX-8 or rotary specialists out there. Don't want to go into getting a new PCM without someone to fall back on locally for help if you screw up. Not to mention, there are not many decent options.
The Cobb AP with MM tunes are the BEST option out right now for tuning.

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions. Yeah I know there isn't much out here for shops that know much about these engines, but I am a apprentice mechanic and luckily we are concentrating on Rotary engines (For some reason...not too sure why but it works to my advantage).
Thanks a lot, greatly appreciated!

Hey, one other question....will the Cobb ap really make a noticeable difference? I am looking for something that will add some noticeable power; do you think this will justify what I am looking for? Also, if I was to put the car into economy mode, will that make a real difference?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

MM did an amazing job tuning my car with the AP. I highly recommend. You may not see a world of difference with HP as mine only went up 10, but dude the car runs great!

No ecu will make a huge difference power wise, especially on a stock car.
Mazda did a good job designing the drivetrain and squeezing power out of a NA car is a tough job
There are other things that may be implemented via pcm tuning though like driveability and reliability. Those alone are woth the expense imho.

Only "Real" power upgrades you can get from the engine is by going FI; N/A you might get 10-20 more hp out of the car.... I'm in your area... if you're ever in Stoon lemme know you can check out my car once I get everything installed in September... could maybe even use a hand if you are that ambitious... how many years into your apprenticeship are you?

Hey, that sounds pretty sweet I'll have to make a trip to stoon sometime. I'm onlyi in a training thing right now; unfortunately the company I was with just went into bankruptcy -.- So I never got to learn a whole lot. Hoping to get back into it really soon though as long as another place will take me on lol
I'm at another job right now and sometimes go to stoon so if I'm in the area I'll definitely come give you a hand
