Question on Nitrous tuning

Hey all,

I'm new to tuning and have a couple questions and would like some of your insight onto how this all works. A while ago I purchased the tuning service from MazdaManiac and will be getting my AP in early this coming week. Looking over his website, I saw that he tunes nitrous setups as well. Awesome!

That being said, I'm still waiting on the last few remaining pieces of my nitrous kit before install. Now my question is, would it be best to have the car tuned as it sits now first and hold off on the nitrous kit? Or install the kit and then have it tuned??

What confuses me is since the nitrous will not always be activated, wouldn't that change some of the tuning for daily driving and driving without nitrous? Which would mean I would want a strong base tune before adding in and getting tuned for nitrous. Not sure how that all works or what the best way going about this is.

Thanks for any feedback!

It all depends on the type of setup and size of shot

55 wet shot .. no tuning required.

65 ~ 75 shot retard a couple degrees timing ... and you're not likely to notice this during daily driving.

Try not to engage nitrous prior to 4k rpm ... due to the intake pooling
It is quite possible to incur catastrophic backfire that will destroy the UIM or at the least the Maf screens
This potentially increases with the size of the shot.

If you running a dry setup ... well good luck and keep us posted.

Good to know. I'll be running the ZEX 55 shot. Just wanted a bit of extra power and something new to toy with. Good to know it won't effect daily driving much. That's the big concern for me. I'll likely start a build thread soon when I begin the install.
