Thanks for elaborating on the OMP subject.

I have multiple requests about installing the REW engine. The ECU has to be able to complete the O2, Cat, etc.. monitors in order to pass the state inspection. Evap is the only monitor that can be incomplete.

I will accommodate the ecu by fabricating temporary parts, down pipe to work with rx8 cat, secondary air injection, air pump if I have to.

Rx8 Throttle body and CPS(CAS) installed permanently. Ideally RX8 OMP on FD front cover.

Is there anything else that can trigger the limp mode, or operating the engine?

EVAP check is still "incomplete" but I didn't need that to pass. So just to be clear MazdaEdit DTC masks WILL allow the car to complete its emissions monitor checks.

Those running Mazda Edit. A question. Will something like Torque still run to give real time AFR? Or, is there a better option. I do not fancy mounting a laptop in the car.

That would be handy during the tuning process, as well as at the track.

Thanks,

Torque will still give you the AFR, but last time I used it the refresh rate was something like 1Hz. The slowness has to do with Torque taking data from the secondary/watchdog bus, while Tactrix will take it directly from the primary/operational bus.

Thanks, My goal will be to marry Torque to the TACTRIX via USB, or, bite the bullet and buy another dongle. I really wish my Ultra Gauge did AFR.

I've been using AP for a long time until my car develop some problem recently. During troubleshooting process, I uninstalled my AP tO stock ROM. The workshop flashed a different map using Mazdaedit. Subsequently I want to install my AP again but couldn't. No problem using mazdaedit. Any way I can restore to stock ROM without paying a sum? Cos I really like going back to AP. I did make a backup of the stock ROM file from AP thou.

If you reload your stock map with no changes made to it ..... You might then be able to reload the AP . .....................maybe

Not sure how I can do that. I did not save the stock rom(.hex) with mazdaedit before flashing. I only have the stock rom in format used by AP(.rom)

Try mine: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7...R4SlN3cTk2QW9J

it's from 2006 EDM Hi-Power RX-8, but MazdaEPC says (based on the VIN) that it was actually made in the fall of 2005.

However, the dump is encrypted and I'm afraid that the key is derived from the VIN / OpenPort serial # or any other licensing info MazdaEdit uses.

If you send me your dump from AP, I can at least check if it's the same ROM, but that's all I can do at the moment. MazdaEdit (just like COBB AP) changes the authentication key to the ECU, which is why COBB cannot communicate with the ECU. I know the key (I have been working on a custom flashing solution), but I lack time so the project is on hold.

I don't recall at the moment, but looking at how MazdaEdit stores the ROM image, I think it keeps the complete image file along with a list of changes made to it, so I would guess that if you have any MazdaEdit image, it should be able to revert it to stock and possibly uninstall itself, but I have not checked it.

Thanks. Can you pm me your email address for me to send my AP stock rom to you? Pardon me for asking, to restore stock dump back to ecu is simply flashing the ecu with the stock dump file? Or is there another procedure to it?

Brettus, have you tried this and had it work? I just did the experiment... The result was no CEL, but the engine stayed in limp mode until I plugged the OMP back in.

OK, thanks, I guess there's another table somewhere not exposed that controls what errors put the ECU into limp mode.

That is not a good idea seeing as there are numerous ecu versions all requiring specific .hex files .
