Accessport 2005 stage 1 CA problem... help

I have searched, but could not find a solution to this. So I just got the AP a couple of days ago and very impressed with what it can do, but I am having problems with AFR spike during WOT with the 2005 stage 1 CA map.

To start off, my mods consist of rb test pipe and AEM CAI which Cobb does not recommend their map to be used with these mods, but I have searched that most members are running fine with these combinations. Well what happened was the car ran super lean and the AFR spiked up to 16.21 at 6,200 rpm. At this point the engine was struggling and felt like it lost all power.

After this I pulled over and immediately reflashed ECU beack to the stock style map. I then tested out WOT all the way up to 8,800 and it was fine. AFR was around 11.97-12.5 and the power band seemed very smooth.

So I really dont understand what is going on and hoping for some help...
Is it that the 2005 stage 1 CA map won't support the AEM intake and the rb test pipe?
Or is there is problem with the 2005 stage 1 CA version map and should I switch it to 2005 stage 1 (non CA) map instead? (By the way I'm in California)

Any help would be appreciated!

Just like you already stated above. If you are running the COBB stage 1 map with an aftermarket intake your AFRs will be too lean!

If you would like a tune for your aftermark parts using your AP you have a couple of options:

Mazdamaniac
Local Shop (if they know how to tune a rotary using the AP)
FluidMotorsports (don't know if there custom tune service is up and runnning yet?)

Good Luck!

yea I understand that there was a possibility of the car running lean with those mods, but Im just wondering if other people are going through the same problem as me. And it also seems like most people are ok with the combinations though.

But thanks anyways... and I should get it tuned.

I'm running a similar setup and I didn't see any lean areas running the Cobb stage 1 map. My AFR's were rich, very similar to stock values. I don't have a Ca model though, maybe that is the difference.

What fuel you using? 93? I recently filled up with 89 octane + premix and had AFR at 17 on the throttle. Really ought to get it tuned by someone, but I think I'm going to try scaling the MAF on my own. Some great info in this forum -- I think with that it is worth a shot...
