First production run seconds

Epitroch is offering 3 kits from the first production run with "seconds" quality back plates at a 20% discount. $64 vs the normal $80 price.

These 3 kits include back plates we consider "seconds" from our first production run. One has already been primed with white bare metal Rustoleum primer. The other two available have surface polishing marks and/or minor scratches.

If you are planning on painting the back plate, these are for you at a 20% savings. The rest of the kit is identical to the regular kit. Containers, mounting hardware and tubing all perfectly the same top quality as the regular kits.

First come, first serve.

Nice fit with the oil tank. Has anyone found out if the oil tank is available in the US? My research indicates that the scooter was sold in Canada, but not the US. I also found a Honda Dio shop manual online, but the design of the oil tank was not even close to what was used for this DYI.

Good evening Eurotech. The intro price was $199 plus shipping. The standard price is $215 plus shipping. It is still a great deal since you save the second shipping cost associated with getting the sohn adapter separately. This is especially true for folks outside the US.

Additionally, we should be ready to offer a right hand drive compatible version in the next week or two as well as one that supports the european LHD types with the secondary washer fluid pump and level detector.

Epitroch Sohn Adapter Installation Kit Update

The RHD drive sohn adapter installation kit prototype is being fit checked this weekend in the UK. We lost a week due to some customs tax and postal issues but those have been put to bed. Thank you for your patience.

Additionally, we have 5 more adapter and install kit bundles in and have been listed on eBay at the following link. They usually sell out in under a week so get one quick.

A discount is available if you buy directly vs. via eBay. Contact me via a private message or at dan@epitroch.com and mention that you are an RX8 club member.

I installed this Epitroch kit today and I must say the quality and fit is better than I expected. There is nothing cheap or poorly engineered in this kit and the instructions are very good, also. I've worked as an avionics engineer for about 20 years and I know how tough it can be to write thorough procedures.

I would have liked to have seen the option for an anodized mounting plate, though. That would have saved me a few hours of priming and painting plus the end result would have looked more professional.

A tip for anyone struggling to remove the washer pump form the original windshield washer reservoir: a few squirts of a good penetrating oil helps a lot. I like Aero Kroil from Kano Laboratories but WD40 would probably work OK.

Thanks for the great kit, Dan. You're doing the RX8 community a great service!

Check out the following link for a discount offer on the new RHD kits and bundles. they are ready and waiting to ship overseas via eBay to those who drive on the other side of the road.

Worth a try

So I'm new, well informed, but still new to the rotary gang, specifically the RX8. I was wondering, and this might be a stupid question, could a RHD Sohn kit work on a LHD RX8?

you’re fortunate then, because the entire thing is a complete waste of time and money for people who don’t know any better

there’s never been any proof to show it has any benefit, yet people keep wading in like dinosaurs at the Brea tar pits …

The benefit I see would be to able to better monitor the amount of oil being burnt and the quality of the oil. Also not have to do oil change as often and use better oil for lubrication.
This may not make the engine last longer but easier to maintain.

While some search for a bundle kit there are other online sellers that do sell them just not completely , I happen to experience the benefit when installed like many say it helps for maintenance purpose , when going thru a divorce my ex sold my rx8 by the time I got it back I was pissed to find out others dismantled a bunch of things including the sohn without knowing how to work with a rx8 , so I’m also searching across eBay , Facebook and OfferUp waiting for a miracle , with no rush they tend to sell quick but if you see one for sale make sure it’s not defective that’s the risk buying used at times if buying used also consider you will need to get a decent reservoir tank and hoses to properly install

I've decided to get this stuff through a reputable rotary specialist. It's a long wait for the products but i would rather get quality.
