DIY: Parking brake adjustment

MOD EDIT: THIS WAS ORIGINALLY POSTED AS A DIY REQUEST. THE DIY INFORMATION IS LOCATED IN OTHER POSTS BELOW.

Tried searching, but no results. All I could find was how to do it once I had access to the tightening bolt.

Pardon my noobness here but, how do I even remove the rear console? Don't we have two in a sense? Is it the cup holder or is it the one where you can pull back and lift up? Am I looking for a screw or a tap to pull off?

Any response would be great!

Ok it is very easy to do. First slide back your arm rest. While sitting in the drivers seat look at the front right side of the cup holder area. If you look closely you will see a small plastic piece. Take a small flat head screw driver and gently pop it out. After the cover piece is removed if you look inside you will see a 10mm nut i believe. You will need a ratchet and deep socket and small extension to tighten your parking brake to where you want it.

You sure it is the cable, not the caliper that needs adjustment?

PARKING BRAKE LEVER ADJUSTMENT

DIY: Parking brake adjustment-112005999.gif

1.Depress the brake pedal several times.
2.Remove the service hole cover of the rear console.
3.Turn the adjusting nut and adjust the parking brake lever.
4.After adjustment, pull the parking brake lever one notch and verify that the parking brake warning light illuminates.
5.Verify that the rear brakes do not drag.

Much thanks to invasion, the picture really helped. I was under the assumption that the entire cup holder tray was to come out lol.

Just in case this gets searched again though, its actually a 10mm nut that needs to be tightened. Make sure you have a deep socket, and make sure the parking brake isn't engaged. " as in, it is down."

It took me a few minutes to realize that the tightening nut was attached to the handle, so if it was engaged, its at a really odd angle, where you can't really get at it.

I'm pretty sure I just needed to tighten the nut and not the caliper. Because I was able to count 10 clicks off the parking brake handle lol.

What do you mean by the caliper needing the adjustment?
