This DIY is here to help anyone who has trouble using the search function of this forum. I shall attempt to provide an accurate and informative step by step procedure on how to do this.

First step is to locate the search button on the menu bar across the top of the page. I have highlighted the appropriate button on the included picture below.

The next step is to click on this button and you should see a little drop down menu like the one seen in this next pic.

Ok, now we have located the search area, we can type in a topic that we want to search on.

I have chosen gas mileage, as this is one of the more asked about items on this forum.

Once you have typed in the topic you want to search on, click GO.

You should end up with something like the following, with many many threads, in this instance listing threads with gas mileage in the thread somewhere.

Now if this returns too many results for your pleasure, you can click on the advanced search link, as highlighted in this next screenshot.

Now as you can see by the next 3 screenshots, you have many advanced options you can search by.

By content in threads, or by thread titles.

By user name, either by threads they have posted in or by threads they have started.

And even by date, replies, and particular sub-forum.
