At some point in time many of us will be faced with the decision on whether to clean, or replace the headlights on your car or truck.


1. Replacing is expensive but gives the best results. if your money is long this is the ideal solution.


2. Cleaning is the cheapest route but using cleaning kit can take hours
of labor, power tools and sealers. In addition a certain skill is needed, if not done properly YOU can cause serious damage that could force you to remove the lens to replace it.


3. A Deoxidizer is not as cheap to do but literally takes seconds to complete, it is a liquid and there is no danger of damage to headlight or surrounding area and no tools or special skills are needed.




Headlight cleaners are not hard to find, after all most are virtually identical in their basic concept: sandpaper and polish. The higher priced kits may include a sealer.
There are numerous how to videos using these kits and they are basically the same:
tape, sand, polish and sealers if you got one.


Finding a Deoxidizer is more challenging, Unlike headlight cleaning kits, A Deoxidizer is not a over the counter product, but can be bought on the internet and shipped to virtually anyplace in the world.

I used the 3M headlight restoration kit just yesterday and I could not be happier. It's a little bit of a process but well worth it. Anything simpler I would expect to give bunk results.

For years i used the Turtle wax kit (full system with different stages of sand paper, polishing compound, etc) But after 11 years they just had to be replaced with new ones and I had Xpel film put on the new ones from day one.

just a quick question the lens material on the HID is the same right? I knocked on it with my knuckles and they are much "thicker" than the rear tail lights which I know is for sure polycarbonate, I just want to make sure I can sand out all the pitting

I tried a product called "Wipe New headlight restore".
very happy with the results, like brand new again.
pretty simple to use, I'd recommend this to anyone.
