Ok, so I just ordered the relays for the fix and am picking up the soldering tool from Radioshack tomorrow. How hard is the soldering to do? Also, if anyone could give me any tips it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Soldering is easy, make sure you get some desolder braid like this, might help to watch this video: Once you have cleaned all the joints/solder pull the old relay out and drop in the new one and solder it in.

This was a great DIY! Just finished soldering and putting everything back together. Was pretty easy. First time using a soldering iron and everything still worked! All in all, pretty easy project. Thank you guys!

I have been meaning to try this forever. I have had no sound out of my door speakers for two years, but before they gave out completely I remember them cutting in and out intermittently when I would hit a bump in the road.

I ordered the relays from Digi-Key. The removal and replacement was a piece of cake since I have an electronics background from a former life. The pain in the butt was getting the door panel off without breaking all those little plastic clips. Luckily I had a couple spares in an old junk box from another car.

So, now there is sound out of the driver's side door speaker! I drove around over every bump I could find with no interruption. Tomorrow I do the passenger's side.

I have a 2006 rx8 shinka. I removed the front passenger door panel and could not find a amp mounted on the door panel. I removed the speaker and it has circuit card mounted on the speaker and what looks like a relay on the card that looks like what thread is describing. Could this be the be the power amp that is connected to the speaker ? If not what does this circuit card do ? The part # for the speaker is FE87-66-96XA. Could there have been a power amp and previous owner bypassed the amp...........because there is no power amp anywhere that i can find.

Never soldered anything in my life. Fixed the amp relay and now the Bose system is pumping again.

I'm having the same issue. I have the relay. I'm just having trouble removing the solder.

You using solder remover (braid) ? Sometimes it's best to heat it up and work a little fresh solder in to the joint, then use the braid to suck it all up

I am having problems with my RF door speaker. I have replaced the relay as per this DIY. But it actually seems to me now that there is no signal getting to the amp.
There is a signal coming out of the head unit OK. What is between the head unit and the door? The electrical diagram infers there is a "main amplifier". Which doesn't make ANY sense.
Can anyone help??!

OK, finally found a post and verified that front speaker signal goes head unit to Bose amp, then forward again to speakers. I found a pinout for a Maz3 Bose amp but the wire colours don't match. Gonna hit the service manual. Either I've got a blown channel on the amp or a broken connection somewhere

But I ignored the colours. The kicker was that I found the signal wasn't getting to the amp, and the wire colours for the RF speaker were different at one end of the loom from the head unit to the amp. All the other speakers, the colours matched.

My problem was a bad connection to the sat nav DVD player!! The wire for the RF speaker is intercepted by the DVD player (for voice guidance I guess) And that was stopping the signal every reaching the amp. Problem solved.

I also now have an uprated relay in my door. Just as a bonus

I'm so happy that this DIY has helped many RX8 owners identify and fix their BOSE system problems. I should be happier that my lazy butt actually did something to fix my own BOSE issue to begin with. When I found the root cause, I couldn't keep it to myself and it feels great knowing that you all have benefited from this.

If there's anyone that needs their amps fixed let me know. I'm in the Austin area and just ordered more relays.

I found the part and yes it is 1.64 each item and 4.99 cheapest shipping. so about 8.50 for 2. Think I will check 2 other local places first.

So i ordered my relays, replaced them and no more popping, i can here the relay clicking on.
BUT I HAVE NO SOUND....
can anyone point me in the right direction??

Update: My rear amp was fried. got a used one from a friend and its all good to go.
