Trying to get more Hp

Hi, right now i have a 04 rx-8. i have ams cold air intake full after market exhaust with mid pipe and dual cat back stage two clutch and aftermarket flywheel. now i looking in to getting a turbo kit. im wondering how much boost i can run before hurting the engine. also if any one knows about how much hp i mite be able to put out. im wondering to about increasing the injector size. i know this is needed if i run FI.
im hoping to be able to put out at least 400hp at the flywheel. can i do this with out hurting the car. i need it for work every day :/ thanks

So you need to change the AMS intake now and the header in your FULL exhaust system.

How much can your motor take? How much can your tuner safely tune the engine? Your turbo can handle? Or your wastegate? Or several other factors you need to consider.

So, you were actually expecting an answer without even reading the stickies you can't miss even if you tried?

If you spend a little bit of time searching the forum, you will find well informed answers to all your questions have already been discussed. Multiple times.

Unless you actually think you are the first person to want to add more HP to the rx8?
By asking questions about FI, Do you think you are breaking new ground?

I haven't finished the last bits, the suspension items, but Power is done. Maybe I should move my Newbies Guide to Modding the RX-8 out into public view for common linking...

See if we can clean up a percentage of these threads.

duex, you aren't going to get very clear answers by asking. Far too many variables to consider, not the least of which is that there have only been a handful of people to reach 400hp on our engine, and it simply will not last. Even they went through >5 engines to get there. The only safe amount of boost to run is a negative number, and that isn't really safe, since our engine is already prone to failure by several weaknesses in design. Stuffing air into it that it was never designed for just componds the problems, and the more you stuff, the worse everything gets.

Get $10,000 in the bank, a spare engine available, log at least a full 40 hour week reading the build threads of other people that have installed turbos, and THEN consider purchasing parts and working on the install. Expect that you will lose your engine within 10,000 miles even staying on low boost and under 300hp. If you surpass that, then be happy, and you are either lucky or clearly doing your homework.

Imagine somebody coming here daily, in fact it is often multiple people daily, asking if not demanding the same information over and over again. We are not your on demand servants. We are people just like you with other priorities and demands in our lives, limited time, our own personal interests for being here, etc. Why should we spend that time catering to people that come here seeking instant gratification?

That leaves us with two options. We can either ignore you completely or we can tell that the info is here if you bother to make the effort. However, over several years of telling people this you eventually get fed up dealing with the continuous stream of people seeking instant gratification yet you still would rather point them in the right direction so you just bark at them to get the point across. Imagine someone coming to your house, going to your living room, pulling their pants down, and taking a dump right there on the carpet just because they didn't know any better. You might be annoyed and yet also understanding because they didn't know any better. Now imagine this being a different person doing this every day. It wouldn't be long before you just as soon they go away and never come back.

Almost every day there is some clueless dolt posting a tech or troubleshooting question in the DiY area, despite there being a sticky thread at the top saying to only post threads there with DIY instructions and subsequent discussion of same. The real issue is that people think they are free to just come here and do as they damn well please and there's no need for etiquette, rules, structure, or organization unless it serves their own personal interest.

Well guess what? We're not here to cater to new uninformed people that come in here trampling all over everything regardless if they're ignorant, just don't care, or whatever. This is like any social community and so if you make waves you better expect to deal with it. If you don't like it then get the f' out because the established community could care less about some newbie whining about not getting what they want immediately. We do care about you clogging up the search engine with useless threads on already established subjects, which there is a dedicated thread on this very subject in this same forum area no less. It took me 10 minutes to explain this. Now imagine multiple people daily requiring it, so you make a Sticky thread at the top that says "read this first" and yet every single new person just like yourself thinks they are beyond trying to fit in properly so that this forum operates smoothly for all of us.

You probably don't read Japanese, but the line in my sig is a well known Japanese proverb that reads "the nail that sticks out gets hammered". You made yourself that nail.

At least you're mature enough to admit your mistakes. More than most in your position. The rotary engine isn't for everybody. Good luck in your next choice.

Power isnt everything, just because you cant make 300hp doesnt mean its slow.

Take it to the track and go from there modding if you dont like what its doing.

delete the cat, exhaust,aem/mazdaspeed intake, headers, cobb accessport=10-30hp(correct me if im wrong)

buy some sticky tires, lightweight rims, coilovers, add a splitter the size of a dining room table and a wing that can seat 3 if it was a bench.

I think a daily driven turbo 8 with 400 hp is a bad idea.
