RP ‘Supercat’ Mid Pipe OR SR Motorsports High Flow Cat?
Can I have some recommendations on the RP ‘Supercat’ Mid Pipe OR SR Motorsports High Flow Cat? Which piece is better? What gives more performance? What about the noise level. I've heard/seen the vids but it's kinda hard to discern which is better through videos. Does anyone have any opinions? I do plan on either a TANABE, RACING BEAT, or HKS Catback and also the REVi intake.

If you were local I'd take you for a ride :D
It's a hard choice, but I am very happy I went with the RP product. They are using a new cat material that works with the higher temps the rotary throws at it. But, you have to add the missing bracket.
I would tend to beleive the RP dynos over the SR dynos, but that is just my opinion.
Either way you are going to be louder on the streets :p

Looking at the pics of the two midpipes, it seems that the RP supercat does not have a heat shield ! As we all know, the center console is already sizzling.... Anybody having the RP supercat could comment on how much hotter the center console or the floor on the passenger side gets? The SR midpipe does have a heat shield, even if it seems shorter than the one on the stock unit. I understand the need to save some weight, but having a car catch fire is not a tradeoff I am considering...

I've had both the SR and the RP cat, and the RP is hands down better. Material looks better welds look better and hopefully last longer than the 6 months the SR lasted before the Cat material inside came apart and shifted sideways restricting exhaust flow. The RP uses 3" piping the SR looked like 2 1/4 - 2 1/2" piping

hmm interesting.......RP is looking better and better how many miles / how long have you had the RP supercat loube?
also i thought the rx-8 had a heat shiled on the car to reflect the heat the cat made?
