rb header ,bhr ignition, motor mounts installed
installed my rb header, and my bhr motor mounts and ignition system a couple weeks ago, felt i would share with you guys, incase any newer members were curious,
instructions from racing beat as far as tools required are on point, remove both engine mounts when doing this job! i recomend having air tools for removal of bolts it makes it 100% easier, open end gear ratchets are recommend also.and angel openend wrench also! cause once header is in place a couple bolts become very hard to get to to tighten, also an engine lift makes this job cake or if you have a lift, 1 can of pb blaster also, ive read that you need to take the cross member off to slide the header back into place, not so you just need to push the engine over enough and angel the header the right way, have an extra person with you for that, i didnt which took me extra 45min of pushing and trying to fit header through the opening, also soak the crap out of the bolts with pb blaster let it sit over night, and most likely the bolts from air pump pipe will strip so if you want to keep air pump, get creative on how to get it off the manifold.i wasn't keeping mine so i had to use a air hammer and chisel the pipe off, time total was about 3,1/2 hours for main job, but i had no real issues with stuff only thing is most of my exhaust studs came off the block except for 2, the rust on our oem exhaust components is insane, my car only has 65k on it, can only imagine cars with higher miles.everything wen back on supper easy,
the ignition system isnt so bad pretty quick, in other wright ups they say to take the engine hoist bracket off theres no need to, unless its really in your way,i bought mine used with only 1k on coils and they were already attached to the bracket so i just took my old bracket off, and put in the new one, maybe took 1,1/2 hours after double checking everything,
motor mounts easy to put on, no engine lift required ,but if you have one use it. here some pics
