RB CAI with Stock Air Box w/K&N
I've read a thread where someone installed the RB CAI and it did not connect to the stock air box. I believe they said there was a 4 inch gap between the box and the intake. Why not fabricate a plastic tube to make the connection? Has anyone done this?
I'm think about buying the CAI and just getting a drop-in K&N filter. Is anyone out there running this configuration? How would this setup compare to the REV-i and CAI?

I don't see how there's an incompatibility. I have a REVi intake, and it stops where the stock intake box stops. The CAI starts at the other side of the wall, not through the intake box area. Intake or nothing, the CAI was designed to fit the front area; regardless of what intake you have. Who has been spreading this rumor anyway? It doesn't make sense.
If anything, the issue with the CAI would be an aftermarket front bodykit.
EDIT: Oh! I just remembered! The VFAD stretches to the inside where the stock box only has a hole. I see the problem now. What you can do is look for scrap plastic or metal at Autozone to fabricate an extension tube.

Ah yes. The sound effects go away after you get used to it and it becomes the norm. The throttle response is so much quicker, especially on the freeway. 6th gear is no longer just a cruise gear, because I can accelerate quickly with it now. I've bragged many times about my 310 miles to the tank mileage on HW/city driving. My maximum before was 255 miles and that with almost 99% freeway.
I also have R Flash and hot spark plugs, so they may have something to do with the improvements too. I have logged so many times with city and HW driving using CANscan. My intake air temps at idle would be around 90 - 100 and drops down to 70 - 80 at 50mph and over.
I'm still trying to convince myself that keeping an enjoyable $25K-car that runs bad on gas, and spending $400+ on upgrades just to get 310 miles to the tank is a sensible move.
