Race Roots catback opinion needed!!

im looking into making my 8 sound more masculine for as little as possible. The dual catback race roots exhaust is a good price and from what iv seen on youtube sounds pretty nice. im really just wondering if it sounds nice and deep or does it sound like a fart can on a cheap civic? i dont want an obnoxious exhaust just a deep rumble.

No such thing as a "deep rumble" on a rotary. The catbacks will sound different depending on the mid-pipe you use.

I heard one in person before and liked it, very comparable to the Agency Power Exhaust.

I have a BHR midpipe + a fujitsubo exhaust which is around 600.00. It is a pretty deep sound imo compared to stock.

However, I feel like if you're looking for deep/rumbly, you need to go to borla.

even if you gutted out your oem cat and put the single exit RR exhaust on, it has a deep tone. look for yourself

That video really tells him nothing. The sounds at idle or revving when stationary are not the same as when driving. The only portion of that video that had any actual driving was through a parking garage and of course its very boomy and rumbly in there.

The race roots single is basically the hks hi-power and I can tell you that other than the idle sound there is nothing deep about it. He said he doesn't want a loud and possibly annoying exhaust so he should probably check single exits off the list. If you pair them with the proper midpipe or stock cat they do quiet down a bit but they are still very loud.

My opinion is that it is a piece of **** copy cat of the HKS Hi-power (love it) exhaust. If you want deep rumble from your exhaust then install a small block Chevy in your RX-8.

Do not pick and exhaust based off sound clips you hear or video you see on the internet. Go to a meet and listen to others setups. What sounds best to you may sound like **** to someone else, it's all subjective.

the duals from race roots sound really good, was impressed with the sounds over the single.

But as 9krpm said sound clips don't sound the same. need to meet with someone or others and hear different setups.

Call the rr single what you want, but it's really hard to beat for the price. It sounds good, it is loud you definitely need a BHR pipe or gutted cat to be at a reasonable volume.

It's well made, and Brice is very easy to work with and helpful. It doesn't have a raspy or high pitch sound to it, it's pretty deep with low tones.... But loud.

Yeah I mean you saved a ton on that over the authentic HKS right? And when all the innovative companies who do actual R&D are gone then who will they rip off to produce products?

Not hate, just my opinion about a blatant rip off. And I would say that HKS is pretty cool in terms of what they have done over the years as a company. Opinions vary I guess

You are limited by the engineering. There are only a few ways you can route pipes and place mufflers on the car. To call it a blatant rip-off is a bit strong.

Race Roots has done it's fair share of innovation for RX-8s. Their Syncro Saver alone is awesome. No need to hate on a U.S. company trying to get by, copies or not. Especially if it goes towards funding more innovation.

I disagree, it's pretty obvious to me and obviously to many others as well since it is commonly referred to as an alternative to the HKS Hi-power.

You wouldn't be saying that if you designed something for production and sale and then it was copied, reproduced, and sold for less than your design. And the synchro saver is far from awesome, let's not get carried away. RR innovative?

Adj.

innovative - being or producing something like nothing done or experienced or created before.

While we're at it let's discuss Apple vs Samsung!

Edit:

So you're saying there's another syncro saver on the market? Does HKS or Autoexe have a $500 version I can buy because it's original?

o'rlly? it would be interesting how many times you use "****" in relation to all your replies regarding RR

I suppose I should call HKS "****" because they basically copied my exhaust from early 2005

you could at least try to be less obvious about it ... HKS makes some ok stuff, but by and large they sell Rice-a-roni, the San Francisco treat

Personally id love to go the hks, borla, or greddy type route but in all honesty i dont have that kind of money. I just know raceroots is a good bolt on which means i can handle the installation. By no means am i picking the "rip off" from the "original" im just simply picking whats in my budget. So far i have not heard to many bad things about the dual exit race roots so ill most likey order that in mid may and worse comes to worse i get a high end mid pipe to help out but i think the slight tone adjustment should be fine.
