I picked these up for $69.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=310072627429

All three pulleys are replaced.Underdriven too. Great deal considering the usual Ralco "stock" sized water and alt pulleys sell for $90, and this set of 3 with underdrive are usually $200.

I don't care about performance. Getting them powder coated and installed just for looks since my entire engine is visible (no airbox, no batt).

Unorthodox is by far the best looking, but it doesn't look so good with the $300 price tag

I was thinkin about getting the agency power pulleys for my wb8. But i have a few questions about it. I read that it can affect take offs and also affect how fast the rpms drop. Is it noticable or much different then stock? and wat does the Agency Power Pulley actually undrive?

Excentric shaft reset via the brake pedal 20 tap after turning to the run position.

Then take it easy on the car for a week so the ECU can learn the differences the pulleys make.
I'm going to try this cuz I have the flashing lights too lol
Thanks!

Just installed the Super Now pulley kit. The alternator is underdriven by 10% and the water pump by 20%. The crank shaft, alternator, and water pump pulleys are lightened but I'm not sure how much.

I'm now getting a flashing check engine light without any codes anytime I go above roughly 5000 RPM. It lasts for a few seconds after it drops below 5k again. It said that the No.2 cylinder misfired for a brief moment. It still happens on stock maps. No noticeable issues while driving. just the engine light comes on. Would I need to get re-tuned, take the alternator pulley off, or could it be something entirely unrelated?

Interpol,

Did you do the 20 brake press when first turning the key on to clear the eccentric shaft position sensor data?

After my AP pulley install the 20 brake press etc did not clear the cel for me . I removed the room fuse for 10mins which did the trick.

The 20 brake tap after the key is turned to the run position (tap as fast as you can till the oil pressure gauge sweeps) does not clear the CEL but it is required when switching pullies unless the sensor tooth ring is not disturbed at all.

The room fuse pull should clear the Check engine light.

I do both after a pulley install to make the ECU pulls new sensor data.

From what i have seen most underdrive pulleys only change the diameter of the crank pulley (making it smaller). The other two are a little lighter weight if they are aluminum. And a little nicer looking.

Hi guys, I'm probably buying AP crank pulley soon, but I wonder if there are alternator/water pump pulleys in the SAME BLUE COLOR as AP crank pulley? Do you know about any? For example Greddy combo alternator/water pump is slightly different.

Unorthodox Pulley Set

Reviving an old sticky thread, but this is the conversation I'm having with someone at VividRacing. If what they say is true, this pulley kit would definitely be worth checking out.

Question
Unorthodox Racing Pulley Set with Belts

Aarica H.
Hello! How can we assist you?

Is this pulley set including three pulleys? Or just two? It's not very clear on what's included

Hi, Dan Mermelstein here!! I'd be happy to assist you further.

Dan Mermelstein
hello3:15 PM
let me check on that part

Ryan
okay3:15 PM

Dan Mermelstein
That is a marketing photo so it is 1 underdrive crank pulley. Can I make a suggestion as the owner and the one that came up with the pulley for the RX8 10 years ago... Go with our Agency Power underdrive pulley. It has been very well received and all you need is this and the included belt. Will make a huge difference https://www.vividracing.com/catalog/agency-power-lightweight-crank-pulley-mazda-rx8-0311-p-13195.html3:17 PM
I have this instock here to ship today
What do you think Ryan?

Ryan
Ah okay, I've been looking for a complete set.3:21 PM

Dan Mermelstein
The other ones are useless, that is why nobody does. let me check for you quickly3:21 PM

Ryan
Is there not a weight reduction in doing the water pump and alternator pulleys?3:22 PM

Dan Mermelstein
not really much. Greddy has a kit we sell http://www.greddy.com/products/engine/pulley-kits/3:23 PM
cludes: Water-pump & Alternator Pulleys
The other 2 would be for show really. $250 shipped on that set.

Ryan
Eh, I think I'll continue pursuing the Unorthodox Racing set. The weight reduction that kit is advertising is the most I can find, and it doesn't underdrive the accessories too much.3:26 PM

Dan Mermelstein
I dont think they have a full set3:26 PM
let me look at the pricelist

Ryan

so yes if you order this, will be 3 pulleys https://www.vividracing.com/catalog/...150795367.html

Price is accurate too. $260

Ryan
No kidding? That comes with the 3 pulleys and the belt? for $260?3:30 PM

thats right from their price list
part numbers match
They only have 2 part numbers for the Mazda RX8 on their sheet.

Ryan
Okay so the Vivid Racing Pulley "package" comes with the eccentric and alternator pulley, and the belt. No water pump pulley.3:37 PM

Dan Mermelstein
Based on the application sheet, this should included the 3 pulleys as there is no other listing https://www.vividracing.com/catalog/unorthodox-racing-pulley-set-with-belts-mazda-rx8-13l-renesis-0411-p-150795367.html. If by chance it does not, you can always return it.3:40 PM

Ryan
True. But wouldn't it be easier for someone on your end to open up a box and check?

Question

Does anyone know the size of the 4 bolts that mount the e shaft pulley to the shaft? The agency power pulley that I purchased didn't include them. I don't have the spare engine with me yet so I can't take off the stock pulley bolts to size them. Thanks

Do you happen to know the length by chance? Thanks for answering such a specific question

That depends, but the thickness of the pulley flange + approx. 10mm + washer thickness if you use any plus or minus a few mm to get a common length is probably good
