I posted that, but now I'm not so sure, see the thread for more details
on the Tanabe U-M, some of the muffler parts and tips are Ti, the rest is thin-wall stainless, I wrote them asking the actual weight and haven't heard back, it's an interesting design
I'm surprised none of you haven't mentioned anything about the Agency Power Ti. exhaust...
And from what I understand, it is fully Titanium... Which means if a tip begins melting some plastic, then your best bet is finding metal objects too fill up those rubbers hangars in a silly attempt to stop the melting
i emailed tanabe about their ultra medallion a while back, i got a pretty shitty answer though

The Ultra Medalion is actually a special order application for the RX-8, but can still be obtained by placing an order. It utilizes lightweight materials like titanium, so it is definitely lighter than stock, even though it is still a dual tipped exhaust. Complete information can be obtained here: http://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhausts/ultramedalion.asp. Because we don’t physically have the exhaust here at our headquarters, we do not have definite weight or box dimensions available at this time. But, box weights for the Ultra range from 15lbs to 40lbs. So the actual system should weigh in at 10 to about 35 max.
I actually talked to a rep from Tanabe USA and fromwhat he told me, the rear section (with the exclusion of the hangers) is titanium and the connecting pipe (rear section to cat-pipe) is stainless steel. iirc, it's somewhere around 24l-27 lbs (shipping weight). I was gonna order this throught them but they don't even stock it there, it has to be special ordered from japan. my old troop managed to get one for me before he got deployed (he's stationed in Yokota AB, Japan) and will bring it to Travis when he flies home for leave. but that'll wait 'cause he's still in Iraq right now. I'll weigh 'em and post some pics as soon as I get it (hopefully within a month or so)
I was mainly interested in the JIC Ti exhaust but now that Tanabe Ultra has caught my eye- cheaper and probably lighter. It's also advertised to be under 95db.

I weighed just the main muffler and tips on our JIC and it was 13 lbs, I don't think the inlet pipe weighs anywhere near 5 lbs, the JIC full Ti with the OE catpipe is super quiet, just barely louder than the OE muffler

What can I tell you, maybe I tilted on the scale. I guess somewhere between 16-18 lbs then. Personally I think it is quite a bit louder than stock. I maybe selling mine soon because of that. I am looking to get a hi-flow cat, and I had one before and with the cat , the exhaust (to me) was too loud. Might be going back to a hi-flow cat & RB cat back setup.

maybe I should do a sound clip. Under WOT ours is a bit louder than OE with a very nice tuned sound, cruising and part throttle it is very quiet. I'm trying to talk DKNV into letting me sell it, but she refuses to do so because it's so quiet for the weight
There is also power house Amuse, re-amemiya, knight sports and many more...
6.2 kg is what I was told, but who's quibbling over 1/4 lb
looks like about $1400 + shipping from Japan so tack on two or three hundred more, those jpn tuners all want $2000+ for their Ti systems + freight, not much of an option for most people given the cost
here's a sound clip I found, couple of guys trying to rev a cold engine and the PCM cuts it off
Crap, now I don't know which. I like the looks and design of the Tanabe, it just looks awesome, but I wonder what it sounds like? I love JIC stuff too, so this is a difficult one.
Does anyone know the weight of the Agency Power exhaust?

Heh heh, that was me but it wasnt the pcn cuttin in just that I didnt want to disturb the neighbours. I always give them a fright when I crank the engine and it wakes them up. kekekeke....
I was thinking of videoing how the car sound likes on the move, including tunnels (i love reving hard when you go in them and scaring everyone off) but cant seem to find the reason why there is this constant whirring sound in the background.
Wonder if its a fault that comes with digi cams.
