Well I justed ordered my Umnitza carbon fiber box intake today. Only $216 shipped priority. They were outta stock so I emailed them asking when then get back in stock, super-fast email responce (on a Sunday even!), said they would get 'em back on Monday.
I was mainly sold when I heard a few sound clips and saw some pics. I know there isn't much HP (if any real power) to be gained, just a smoothed powerband, so I no longer based my decision on HP gains but rather sound and look, and the Umnitza fits those requirements perfectly for me.
But I deff think this thread should be stickied!! A great resource.

Has anyone ever had a mazda dealership refuse to work on your car with a mazdaspeed intake? Or claim that this voided your warranty? I have read all the posts about the act passed saying they have to prove the part caused the issue, but I don't have time and don't want to deal with that kinda crap. My local Mazda dealer (which is not a mazdaspeed dealer) claimed that the intake would void my warranty on my engine. There is another dealer about 2 hrs away that is a MS dealer. I may check with them.

I just want to know if anyone has experienced issues and what happened? I don't want to end up having to pay for a new engine out of pocket.

I am considering some aftermarket mods, and trying to find the best bang for my buck. Since the MS intake claims hp gains, and so does Greddy SP2 exhaust, I am leaning in that direction.

$ for hp I would say it's not worth it. Others will tell you it is.

Rx8 has very high underhood temps. Even with the car moving I dont see how any cooler air would get to any intake that isn't plumed to the outside like factory.

Had a friend who had the K/N intake and was getting engine oil on it....his engine was going bad. He went into the dealer and the dealer claimed it was the intake. So, we put the stock intake back on, it had the same problem and the dealer did the replacement.

Just keep your stock parts in case something severe happens. Otherwise, the dealer is not going to give you any cra* for normal service work and you can keep the aftermarket intake on.

I would agree with this....so, whichever unit you get, consider adding the RB Air Duct to it. Another option to consider is the throttle body mod...for those of you in the warmer/non-ice regions.

I talked to the closest MS dealer to me, and he stated that no MS parts void the warranty on my 8 as long as it is installed by a MS dealer. I will most likely go ahead and get MS CAI. Thanks for your help.

um okay so what really is the point of an intake if it provides virtually no additional Hp? What I see in a lot of cases, less HP.
I want an intake that doesn't sound like a rice rocket or just a rocket (K&N, HKS). I want a deeper tone than stock and what I heard from Revi it really isn't much difference at all from the stock intake. I like the looks of Umnitza but you pay for what you get and i really haven't heard anything negative about that intake yet.
am I better off just keeping the stock one? -sigh-

I have the Umnitza intake and I like it. Better than a K&N (don't ask how I know ) I would say no or insignificant loose in RWHP. Plus is sounds mean and looks like sex.

HOWEVER, all that being said, I am still considering getting the RB REVi or the AEM cai. Mainly just to see if I gain any rwhp.

Also, it's BS that intakes don't add ANY horsepower. They do. Some people just started saying it and now everyone parrots it as a generlization for all intakes. It's true we don't get as much bolt-on power as say an Evo or 350Z but you will see a RWHP increase with a qualitly intake such as the REVi or AEM.

well yeah, it is true. you will get SOME increase. I have a K&N (and I love it) but I dont go telling everyone that it made a differance. because the differance is not worth bragging about.

When someone ask "so does the intake do anything" I usually reply "it sounds cool"

with all my mods I was able to pull 201 on the dyno. so yeah, it must be doing something. (and I dont even have an exhaust. thats just the intake, pulleys, and flywheel) but again, its nothing to wright home about.

with that said, if your looking for more power.... something your gona actually feel, there is really no mod for the RX-8 that is going to put a smile on our face from ear to ear unless you go boosted. everything else is minute.

Bad thing about K&N is that, I have to wash the filter more often. Every 5 K miles for me. the design attract dirt really .... good, well thats a good thing actually.

The Odula is about $190 dollars (converted from YEN and JDM price) this is without shipping. Japanparts would be more specific about total cost. It fits with the stock box.

Sure wish somebody would make a "knock off" of this and make the inlet a bit bigger. Overall, I like it and it works well.

The Aem Cai also provides much cooler intake temps vs stock...With the stock intake I was seeing intake temps anywhere from 10-30 degrees above the ambient temp outside while moving, now that I have the AEM cai, my intake temps hover no more than 15 degrees above ambient while moving.

When on highway I have yet to see it top 5 degrees past ambient temp

Which intake sounds better the Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake or the Mazdaspeed Intake? Which one gains the most power? Thanks.
