Talking Feels like a new car

Well in the last 72 hours I have done the following Mods:

Axialflow shifter
RB Suspension Package
RB Exhaust
RB Intake
RP Super Cat

All I have to say is holy sh*t, the car feels and sounds completely different.

Handling is amazing, almost no roll. I feel the bumps and road just a little bit more, but its for the better. I did a lot of Texas Turnarounds on 75 after it was done. (If you live in the area you understand what I am talking about, if you don't it's basically the only way you can drive on curvy roads in Dallas).

Now for power, I have a butt dyno and an actual dyno (only after, the place just did it for their own curiosity). The butt dyno is much sweeter unfortunately, low end I cannot feel too much difference, but the shifts between 3-4-5 the car is pulling much harder. The car was dyoned today after mods at 188, which is not too bad but I have nothing to compare it to (I was hoping for closer to 200).

Noise is perfect, I was worried about the super cat being to loud w/ the exhaust but at idle I cannot even tell it's there, and it has a great deep growl when you step on it. I was orignally going to go with the Hymee exhaust but I read that setup is on the loud side, so I am glad I went with the RB.

The short shifter is sweet, took a little bit to get used to but I love the "snick-snick" feel of the gearbox now.

Well I think I covered everything, a used CZ unit is on the way, and I have to get new rear tires, but besides that the wallet is closed(and empty) for a long time.

I was worried that I was spending to much $$ and was not going to be happy with the results, but thats not the case at all...... :D

Oh yeah....My springs have not had time to "settle" yet but the car actually looks like it's been raised hopefully that will change in the next fews day.

Time to drink a beer, relax, and plan where I am going to go drive tommorrow

with all those mods, i'm kinda disappointed that you only saw 188 to the wheels. makes me wanna just hold off on doing anything and just go turbo when my warranty runs out

I have some family that lives out in Plano, I was out there last summer. I was amazed at how spread out and FLAT it is! Pretty interesting area to say the least.

Yeah I was a little disappointed too, but since I have no before dyno I can only use my butt dyno for comparison. The car is defintely faster. I think I have one of the rich, 15mpg, lower HP cars.

Thanks for the local tips Ajax, I'll have to check those out. My wife and I are going to her inlaws in Troupe (south of Tyler) next weekend, and they have some great roads out there.

SD-8, if your going to be anywhere near the Loop (323) and Troup Hwy next week, I sure would like to listen to your RB Exhaust set up. My REVi has been ordered but it will be a week or so before I get the time to put it on. My next mod is the RB exhaust if it sounds "right". All I've heard is clips from different sites off this web. It would be nice to hear in person Thanks

Just what I thought!
Start at 180 RWHP

2.5 for RB exhaust

3.5 for RB intake

2 for RP Super CAT and I think this is a stretch.........

3-4-5 is better but I guess 1 & 2 are not?

Sounds like it's time for a lighter flywheel. :D

The cars that run rich seem to benefit the most from the canzommer - AFTER TUNING . I have one as well and am having the canzommer installed next Saturday. I am sure that after tuning I will see a significant difference. I am actually traveling to Edmonton to have Maurice install it and teach me to use the computer with it.

That should not be a problem, I am not too familiar with the road names in that area but I know they live close to the canal between the 2 lakes, and where that home & garden TV prize house is.

Not at all but I do not have easy access to a scanner, so it might be a while.

No, I just got it on Friday (thanks for the quick shipment by the way)....I am waitiing to install it for 2 reasons; One I want to get used to the new setup I have so when I do install it I'll have a better feel for the effects.....And also, the tuning part might be beyond me so I am probably going to try to find somebody local - Hopefully a fellow RX8 cluber - to help me out.

I know, I was at RP and I asked them how long it would take to install the flywheel they sell ( I think the ACT) and install plus the part was just a bit too much after everything else I have purchased.

188 is not bad. Most cars dyno from 170 to 185 whp stock. If you are dynoing at 188 whp after the mods that is not bad. You have a chance to be close to 200 whp when all is said & done. Good luck. I have the RB suspension package on my car & love it. Did you get the front sway bar endlinks ?
