The reed switch will rarely give problem. Check the magnetic float then see where is the water goes at constant high rpm. I put 2 cm above the max water level and so far don't see any light coming up yet.

He didn't ask about the level sensor. He wants to know where the temp sensor is, which was answered correctly.

That said, the level sensor in the bottle has a fairly high failure rate. Just search around here.

thanks guys....I bought a GT tuner which usually clips in the air intake sensor, since the 8 has 5 wires the instructions reccomend to clip it to the CTS sensor. I am sure its not gonna make much of a difference in performance or fuel efficiency as the product brags but thought of giving it a try.

Because I know how the PCM works intimately and I know what the CTS does.

Don''t mess with the CTS wiring...it will cause you tons of grief. It's one of the sensors that will throw the car into limp mode if the ECU doesn't like the readings it is giving.

You can't use cheap sensor mods to do ANYTHING on this car....

Saturday my 8 started and died. I'm like great, its flooded now. Finally got it started and noticed my check engine light was on, the stability control dash light was on, and my engine temperature wouldn't budge. OBD said CTS failure. Bought one after finding the location on this thread so I could replace it. Looked for the CTS sensor and found a bunch of acorns beneath it and a chewed green wire on the connector. Took nearly two hours trying to splice that sucker as its a very tight fit. Found a bunch of acorns under the airbox also. Squirls and chipmonks love RX-8s too. I'm buying a BB gun.

So I took on the project of replacing my engine coolant temperature, didn't drain the coolant and did spill some on the engine block where the fuel injector is. Cleaned up a little. Now the car stated just fine before replacing but I CEL for this sensor and my traction control light also comes on when the sensor glitches. However after replacing I can not get my rx8 to ignite the starting system sounds healthy. It almost seems there is no spark. I did purchase the part off of eBay for cheap thinking this was a universal part. Anyone have any suggestion on what could be the cause for my car not firing?

Well it could be the wrong sensor, or a bad sensor, and it is a very important sensor. Did you disconnect the battery before installing it?

Yes I did disconnect the battery and I tried resetting my ECU before trying to start up. Feel like my only option now is to buy a new sensor and hope it is a faulty part I got.
