1. Buy a turbo kit and fit it. Make sure you dont waste your money on a Blow Off Valve
2. Go and get a really good tune,
3. Go for a drive and give the car a good hard thrash,
4. Wait for the turbo to die,
5. Go buy a new turbo,
6. Avoid the forums for fear of ridicule.
Seriously, there are 2 sounds I think you could be talking about, the first is a Blow of Valve venting to atmosphere, its a whooshing noise when you come of the accelerator (Go read up what a BOV is for). The other is a "do do do do" noise (cant think of a better way to put it). This is where the BOV is either not present or not operational. It causes the turbo to go from spining 40,000rpm in direction to spining the other direction very quickly. Its a sure fire way to destroy the unit.

amaank (4 days ago) If you want to eliminate compressor surge install a blow off valve, bypass valve or some other kind of pressure relief device on your hotpipe.
amaank (4 days ago) Btw if you have a ca18det then there is no stock blow off valve. Compressor surge is normal and will not hurt your turbo.

bnz500 (5 days ago) Yeah a pipe coming off the front of the turbo. different diameters and lengths give different sounds. Look up "dose" Some vids show what pipe there using. And if you put one on, put a vid up so we can hear it... Cheers.
