Wink Budget exhaust

Tight on cash at the moment, if i had the money i would have just bought the full agency power catback/midpipe, but unfortunatly i only had the cash for the Midpipe. I dont like the idea of having the stock catback with my midpipe so soon i plan to "finish" the exhaust.

The most economical thing to do would be to puchase the turbo xs catback. With my limited funds, that looks to be the path im going to take.

Let me preface my question(s) with the notion that this has most likley been discussed. However the search feature is so clogged up with pages upon pages on exhaust and brand related stuff, that i found myself becoming sidetracked and reading up for hours on things that do not benifit me.

Does anybody have a soundclip of this combination, and pictures or information on how they join together. Much appreiciated, thanks in advance.

I have a boombopshop catback, idk if you would classify it as a "budget exhaust" or not, it was 450 bucks shipped and i have been satisfied since i've had. i've had it for about 8 months, with the stock cat.

Has not faded at all. One of the reasons i like it is because the tips are only 3.5 inches, the 4 inch tips on most exhausts look gaudy to me.

The gti is lightly modified, 3 in apr exhuast, intake, apr ecu upgrade? I'm not sure really, the car is not mine. My brother owns it and he rarely visits, so honeslty i have no idea.

Hey Sampappas,

Couple fo questions for you. How did you get those parking lights blue? I have the same setup as you. Xenon headlights LED corners and fogs. I have never been able to figure out how to change my parking lights that come on with the headlights? how do you do it?

Also, about the boombopshop catback. Would you say its loud in the cabin? I want it to stay quiet in there and frankly its a good looking catback. Not too many videos of it though. Would you mind posting something with inside and outside driving? I currently have my stock cat on but I also have an AP midpipe which I removed because of the raspy sound at 4k rpm.

You have to change out the bulb. You can manage to get to it without removing anything. Open the hood reach behind and turn the connector ccw. Replace bulb, and place connector back into socket, making sure it is all the way in an then turn cw until it clicks/pops into place, very easy, 2-3 minutes. Your hands may be too big and you may need someone else to do it.

The turboxs comes with a RP. Its loud but well worth the money. I think I paid right at 500 shipped for mine. I personally like the sound of a rotary so the sound doesn't get on my nerves at all. There is a great video on youtube search for Turboxs shooting flames. Its a video of a gray rx8 shot from a camera car and you can really hear the exhaust.

don't remember the bulb code but the above comment pretty much wrapped that up. it is a little led bulb that i replaced the stock bulb with. it was extremely hard for me to do, and extremely easy for my girlfriend to do it.

as for the noise inside the cabin, it is loud if you are accelerating, but if you are just cruising in cruise control there is little to no drone. but just driving around town it is noise, it is louder than the bose stereo set on like 12-15. it is the same with pretty much any catback other than racing beat.

SamPappas have you thought about blacking out your emblems? It looks nice on a white 8 imo.

I'm sure the OP has already bought an exhaust but to anyone else, if you are thinking about the agency power exhaust you can get a hell of a deal buying the midpipe and exhaust together. This was many many months ago but I was quoted around $650 for both of them from a thmotorsports thread here. The op probably bought the ap midpipe for ~$200 and then is wanting a budget exhaust at 450, which would have been the original cost for the package deal(650 total).

Now of course prices change over time, but I am sure they are still doing great deals.

I blacked them out temporarily and really thought it didn't look as good as the chrome. but that was just plastidip, if I actually used paint and they were glossy I would probably like it.
