Talking Another Single Exit Exhaust

I ended up seeing this on the infamous JIC Time Attack car. So I went ahead and cut up my rear bumper and had an exhaust system fabbed up by a friend of mine. Its not too terribly loud with the exhaust silencer installed, but it does get pretty loud without it. All in all Im quite happy with the setup. I also plan on modifying an FD rear diffuser to finish off the back. Let me know what you think-

I have ran this car with a complete straight pipe, but it is way too loud for a daily driver. This is quite manageable. Exhaust video with no silencer. Filmed with my GoPro Hero2. Just running a sound test through the countryside.

That sounds like its extremely loud and why not just run the muffler more to the left thru the exhaust shroud?

It is very loud, but Im running a silencer on the muffler and its not as loud. Running it through the exhaust shroud would be a harder angle. I was trying to get the muffler to sit as straight back as possible without having some crazy Subaru angled muffler. Oh, btw- the piping size is 2.5".

It looks a little weird with the silencer installed, but I understand why you would want it there. I would take a little time to clean up the edges of those cuts a little better if I were you.

I have a single exit exhaust I got fabbed up as well. With the turbo xs midpipe its pretty loud up top but surprisingly smooth on normal driving conditions.

Nice, I too have had to cut my rear bumper to fit my single. I would like the see the FD diffuser installed. The singe on mine gives a much nicer tone than the twins in my opinion.

I added a picture of the JIC USA car for comparison.

IMO a couple of things to better pull off this look. Car needs to be lower because the exhaust looks way too high off the ground. INGS exhaust shrouds would help clean up the profile but then you would need side skirts and a front lip or new bumper Remove the rotary symbol and clean up the edges.

^Exactly what I was talking about, but stated much better! This has potential. I love the look when it's done well. Your color combo should make it look great, too.

I agree with what pdxhak said, this has potential with some more attention to detail.

It's definitely not finished yet. The rotor inn the back is gone already. I plan on lowering the car next month with some Megan springs. I can't do too many ground effects cause of where i live.....i need some ground clearance lol. And thanks for the feedback.

Where are you in Salem? I take my 8 down there once or twice a year when I go to Stayton to see family or play golf.

I toyed around with this.. for a long time, multiple times.

that JIC exhaust used is a spartan something, its discontinued and iirc 1k+ used.

The diffuser idea:

The problem with the diffuser is the mounting points, and that the exhaust hangs so low that you would have to accommodate for that.

Your biggest issue is going to be the mounting points.

Although I dont like it (because its not TI and sexy) You have done one of the cleanest jobs with the exhaust.

I like where it is btw, dont put it in the shroud, it will look ugly like the corksport one.

Looking at this again I think the muffler sticks too far out from the rear exposing it too much. The pictures below are not the exact same angle but close enough to understand what I mean. Also this shows how the INGS shrouds help the profile I previously mentioned.

Here from behind you can see your muffler is extended too much from the rear. The JIC car it is a little more tucked a litter further back and not as in your face.

True, but to have it back further i would of had to angle it more. I was trying to have it as straight as possible. There really isn't much room to do the angles on the pipe you would think. I may look into the INGS pieces at somepoint, but i want to lower and do the rear diffuser first. I'm also planning on adding another SS resonator so i can take the silencer out for good.

BHR sells their resonator without the mid pipe. I'd recommend contacting them.

Best way to quiet the exhaust is with a turbo

The exhaust is all one custom piece, i no longer have any flanges and would have to weld in another one. I also weighed my car recently. It now weighs 2930 lbs. with a half of a tank. Not too bad for a full spec GT model.

Are you doing this because you like the look? Just curious since the JIC car is running a 13B-REW.

Why didn't you have the exhaust exit on the passenger side?

My guess would be that he is just trying to make it look just like how the JIC car has it.
