Again, ignition fail from mazsport

Yes thats right, this is the second time the MAZSPORT ignition solution has failed on my car. first time it was replaced by mazsport beofre they shut down. and on my way home today it started misfiring really bad almost to a no idle! so i have stock ignition back in.

its the damn electrical box that keeps going out on the kit. the coils are good!

anyone give a price to buy it. id sell it to one who owns the kit allready so this way it can be a back up wire harness/ coils/wires.....

but maybe the 2007 doesnt like the kit to beginwith nevber did idle smooth with this kit.

to be honest, i drove the car with the stock coils, and i can feel the power loss in the 6,000rpm range to 9,000rpm.
maybe i need to reset the ecu. maybe it was throwing codes that need to be cleared. The CEL is on becasue of the midpipe. so idk! i feels like it has no pull compaired to mazsport...
guess ill have to save for BHR ignition.. i just purchased accessport too!! il have to wait a bit for BHR.

I'm sure there was a difference with the mazsport coils, as they were advertised to gain HP...however that does not mean they are good.

Also, your stock coils could be crap too. Hard to say.

the stock coils "were pretty much brand new" its an 07. i did the mazsport around 10,000 mile range... so basically the stockers have about 10k miles on them. oh-well... cant argue if they are or arnt..

The problem with the "box" is a Microtech design problem....if there is any problem with the ground...it blows the ignitor circuit.....

yeah, i made sure there was no paint when i did the ground. that it was metal to metal. but it was in my car for about 5 months the first time, then mazsport rebuilt the "box" and sent new coils. THen after that mazsport shut down. so it may have been about 5 months again.

I recall that you can get a replacement box from micotech but I have no idea what the cost would be. Still, the igniter box is an issue because of the communication needed between the coils and the PCM so at some point the PCM is going to have fits.

Sorry to hear you're having problems! If you decide to go with a BHR kit send Charles R. Hill a pm to get you on the order list.

I guess its hit and miss. Mike has had them on his car for a long *** time and has never had any issues with them. Guess its all in the install. Cuz I just did my pulley and had a issue with it. How ever after reinstalling it I found my mistake and corrected it. It was human error.

Hello,

You can get a replacement "box" from Microtech for about 125-160 bucks. Its called the X4 Ignitor/Driver. Anyone that distributes Microtech products can get you this and its about as expensive as replacing stock coils but at least you have a better/smoother powerband.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Make sure BOTH your grounds are connected and have good contact, test resistance with ohm meter, make sure you get 0.

Also, the "box" is a microtech, they sell for $99 on eBay.

good grounds.. i had them nice and clean and where MAZSPORT said to install them.. idk i might try another board. but BHR will be next on the list. maybe vibration caused problems. on where they tell you to mount it. 135.00 on EBAY. 150.00 from a microtech seller..

well that sux, I actually like my mazport ignition exspecially after finding out it is my fuel pump that was goin out and not my mazport. On a mazport kit that is working fine what is actually wrong with the kit? the car runs better, has strong coils, more h/p in most cases, better spark, w/ hold more horse power. can someone tell me an actual problem with them? b/c im tryin to justify buying bhr when my mazport works jus fine

for NA they are fine
for FI you have to adjust the dwell settings
the only problem I see is this box that keeps malfunctioning...it could be rather irritating
if yours work fine, don't worry about it

Yea ive read sumthing about the dwell settings. Is this i big deal to do? i see mazda maniac has found a resolution for the mazport dwell w/ the cobb access port. I am planning on goin turbo very soon, and i am technically f/i since i do spray nitrous.. but an xtra 500 bux is kinda pointless to spend if i have a good working mazport ignition? and for 135 ill buy an xtra box to have around just in case lol and still save 350+ dollars

i kinda agree.. 135.00 for abox. but can be irritating.. to keep swapping it out. cuz with me both times when it went out. it went quick. it wasnt hmm somthings going wrong. it was barely idling when it happend.

If your kit works great why worry. im just kinda fed up to be honest.... id rather sell this kit and get a BHR kit, someone buys this for 265.00 and spends 135.00 on a new ignitor they make out. i make out and were all happy! thats 400.00 total. and it would damn near be new!

I bought another ignition solution once to troubleshoot why car wouldn't start and found out it was my pump filter sock that got clogged. I installed a fuel pressure gauge for that reason. If I see lower pressure than 50psi I know it's time to replace the filter sock, which got replaced with an RX7 one, which is bigger.

You wouldn't by any chance have a part number or a source for those socks would you?
