TX Aftermarket Wideband O2 Sensor Options

Okay guys I have read a few threads but i have not really found any real reviews or discussions on which systems are good.

Please feel free to educate me and post opinions on what you guys have used with success. I have read a bit and it appears you want a Bosch sensor but some of the kits don't state the type of sensor used.

These are the kits I have found so far that I like.

  1. NGK AFX, I like the non traditional gauge setup. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/product...rmance/afx.asp

  3. Innovate Seems to be very popular and my buddy has this unit and like it very much, I will soon be replacing my PLX stuff with this. http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/scg1.php

  5. PLX - I have the DM-6 with AFR and Boost. Really unreliable, both modules have glitches and often need to be powered down and restarted to work properly. No bueno. http://www.plxdevices.com/wideband.html
  6. Stack makes nice stuff and they have some cool features. I may go this route in the future but they are pricey. http://www.stackltd.com/instruments.html
  7. Zeitronix offers a mulitigauge that does AFR along with others. http://www.zeitronix.com/Products/ZR-2/ZR-2.shtml

I personally like the AEM and the prosport. Both of which, use a bosch sensor

Yeah I like those as well. I was surprised NGK made a kit and I like the display.

Yeah I like those too. I actually trying to keep the traditional round gauges to a minimum. That is why I like my Goodbox and Auber Instruments gauges.

ah... where are you thinking about mounting them? doesn't plx make a rectangular gauge kit?

I have a dual vent pod with oil pressure and fuel pressure, Auber oil temp in the radio faceplate, dynotune ting gauge for nitrous pressure, and Goodbox for everything the ECM puts out and boost. I have a Cobb and mount but I hate using it to view data since it only allows you to see one data point at a time and I have to put it way when i go anywhere.

I'm a fan of the Goodbox. Keeps things stock looking.
Considering you already have Prosport, why not just stick with them? Too many gauges looks pretty messy, imho.

Yeah I wish i was able to get oil temp, oil pressure, and fuel pressure on the Goodbox. I hate gauges as well but oil temp, oil pressure, and fuel pressure with warnings are a must IMO if you are boosted.

I agree.
What about the RB ashtray pod? That would remove some clutter as well as offer some more mounting locations for the wideband...

Yeah I may do that for the stuff I don't need to see all the time and just put the two most important ones in the dual pod.

I currently run the Innovate LC-1, and have been for 3 years on the same bosch sensor. Readings matches the stock wideband, which is what I use to keep it in check.

One of the main reasons for wideband failures aside from the o2 sensor itself is the controller, which should be kept away from the high temperatures in the engine bay. I run mine through the shifter opening into the cabin.

If you go with a bosch sensor, just go with whichever setup looks the best to you. Most of them are similar (Innovate, AEM, PLX). The Prosport uses a Bosch LSU 4.9 Sensor instead of the LSU 4.2 that the others use. It is said to be more accurate, more reliable, faster, etc. etc, though I don't have experience with that. If you choose to go with the analog gauges though, you won't notice any of faster response or accuracy, so you're pretty much in the same boat there as with the others. The AFX can run both bosch and ntk. NTK sensors are more expensive but is said to be more accurate and have a higher temp operating range.

If you do any tuning yourself via the Cobb Accesstuner, the Innovate and the PLX can actually link up to it and be datalogged as well (via PC).

The last thing I would buy would be an LC-1

There customer service sucks only slightly worse than the design of that thing......

( rant from very bad prior experiences )

Thanks, for the input. I noticed the options in ATR for those so that is something to keep in mind. I am leaning towards the NGK right now though because the reviews have been really good.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I have read both really good and really bad, not much in between. There is a guy locally selling the whole kit new in the box for $200.00 but I'm not sure I wanna buy something without warranty.

i have the AEM UEGO with gauge and im replacing my front o2 sensor with it how do i wire from the gauge to the old oem o2 sensors connector (what wires go to what wires. ground to ground and what other wires go together) so i can plug it into the harness

You don't and can't replace your front sensor with it, you either weld another O2 bung in your exhaust or put it where the stock secondary O2 goes.

Oh and since you bumped this, I went with the PLX DM-6 and it sucks *****, I hate it. I have had them replace the modules for the AFR and Boost and I have spent time on the phone with tech support, rewired it, tried a bunch of BS they suggested and it still only works when it wants too. I am saving for real quality gauges now.

I've had my LC1 installed for a while and like it. I've got a prosport digital gauge. That shows volts on startup and every now and then goes to volts. It shows the afr when not in volt mode. No switch to make it show one or the other. It also has a little outer led that moves with AFR. So even when it is showing volts you can still see your AFR range.

My buddy just got the new Innovate Boost/Wideband. It is pretty slick but I think I am going with Stack gauges, still deciding.
