AEM vs RB

I just recently sold my RB intake / ram air duct and bought the AEM cai. just my take on both units.....

RB pros over AEM

-looks stock
-much quieter
-beauty cover fits back on
-instructions were easy to follow (AEMs instructions included removing unessessary parts to remove the bumper)

AEM pros over RB

-price was over $100 cheaper
-they have included all of the parts for the install instead of RB having you take parts off the stock airbox
-they have the pipe going ALL the way to the TB.
-easier to take off and clean

the big issue i thought would be dirt and the exposed AEM filter. with this intake included is a black "Nylon Sock" that fits over the intake to divert some dirt from getting onto the filter.
funny enough, when i removed the RB airbox / air duct i noticed some dirt and leaves had made their way up there so i guess neither is better with keeping dirt away than the stock airbox.

honestly, can't say i have a preference between the two. maybe the AEM by a hair.

Of course, this "sock" is an added restriction. I guess its all about trade-offs!

AEM easier to take off and clean than the RB? I think not... since the AEM requires you to remove the bumper to clean the filter, correct?

i would say that there is an increase in power throughout the powerband with both. AEM feels as if there's more kick up high (7k+). RB feels stronger mid range (4K-6k).

TAMAS, as for cleaning the filter, you can reach up through the air dam and unscrew the clamp holding the filter.

Heh, not me - since I have a screen there to protect the AC condenser from rocks
