ACT 6 Pad/HD Pressure plate?

I need some answers, quick. Possibly buying a ACT 6 Pad/HD Pressure plate. I have a stock 8, which is my daily drive. Would this setup be to harsh for a stock daily driver? I plan on doing more to it pretty soon, but the time being, I dont want it to harsh now or ever.

Thanks.

Allow me;

The ACT line of pressure plates do tend to have a narrower friction zone than the factory/Exedy line of pressure plates. Thus, they are felt to engage a little harsher than some other clutches. Some people like this and some people do not. However, the 6-puck disc is going to add it's own level of harsh engagement to this combo.

Might I suggest the ZM8-HDMM or HDSS clutches from ACT?

I have an ACT extreme and intend to get a new 6 puck sprung disk! I really like the feel and engagement of this set up. but, there's that but! I have a J-SPEC MAZDASPEED 2004 RX8 GT 6. I have also modified it too the tone of 406 RWHP and a F1 GT6 tranny. You need to go with the street performace disk. Also get the braided HYD. clutch line and always install new pilot and release bearings when you do this. I would suggest you also consider the act prolite steet flywheel w/ counter balance. when you get around to changing the front pulley set up ( I used unorthadox racing ) you will really notice how much faster it will rev and accelerate.

good luck and hope this helps!

Thanks. That does help a lot. What have you done to get your 8 to 400+ at the wheels? Turbo?

Wouldn't a 6-puck be a little overkill?

The ACT Street pressure plate will easily hold over 400 h.p. while the Xtreme Duty will hold over 600.

The Xtreme pressure plate will also destroy the welds that hold your clutch pedal together. Killed mine in less than 12,000 miles and that was NOT an anomaly.
