Winter Tires in Nashville?

I have a trip to Nashville coming up in a couple of weeks. I live in Florida and can't justify winter tires, but reading all the threads here on the danger of driving stock tires on snow, I wondered. How often, how much snow in Nashville. I will be at a hotel downtown. Are the roads kept clear when snow comes through? How about the Interstate highways? Would you think it a big risk to drive up there for a couple of days without winter tires?

I'd say no, check the weather first, it rarely snows here as we are in a valley, most of it goes over the top of us. I'm still on stock tires but really wouldn't drive in the snow anyway. It's snowed here twice all winter and both times with 0 accummulation, mostly just flurries for show. However if it snows and you need to come, everything just kind of shuts down, they do salt the roads but I have never seen any plows for lack of need. We get one good snow every two or three years, and we had one last year, I work downtown, but I will take a vacation day if it snows. It's really not worth the hassle here.

Thanks Astor. I will be driving up there on Thursday, Jan 22 and coming back on Saturday. Will check the weather report just before I leave, and if my luck is bad (weather wise) will just have to drive my old '93 Jimmy. Hopefully the one-bad-snow will not hit there then.
