Angry Rims were stolen off my 8

Walked out my front door this morning to see my car sitting on a couple of spare tires and jacks. Luckily they didnt just drop the car on the pavement so no damage was done. If anybody hears someone selling rx8 rims (18") and tires in the miami-kendall area please let me know. Id love to catch the bastards who did this. Hopefully my insurance will cover this..im waiting to hear back from them..

Yeah i did and the lock was in the glove compartment. I must of left the door unlocked or they really knew what they were doing to get the door open. my insurance will cover it which is good.

That sucks, I always wondering about wheel lock keys in the car. YES you need them incase of emergency but if someone just breaks in your screwed.

I hid my wheel lock.

Is because is sh*t like that I hate Miami. I had to spend three months there one time and it was the worse time I have ever had in my life. People are rude, traffic sucks, parking sucks, and everyone thinks they're better than the next guy. I do have to admit, the hottest chicks are in South Beach. I guess the night life is not too bad, if you have the money and connections to get into the cool clubs. Orlando's night life is getting better and better. Anyway, I hope your insurance covers it. The wheels are probably installed on a modified 86 Nissan Sentra. Peace.

Angry

Sorry to hear such crap.. living in Miami I can understand how it happened. My friend who lives in Coral Gables had the same thing happen w/ his BMW. It just blows.
The thieves probably have master keys for the wheel locks. (most dealers carry them).
I have the shock sensor upgrade. I wounder if it would have helped?
Best wishes.. That is why I want to get out of this DUMP as SQQn as my kids get out of hight school. I just hate it !

That sucks man,

How much will your insurance cover. You could buy the accessory RX-8 wheels now if they will pay that much, that is if you are interested in them. Having them stolen is bad and having to pay a deductible also so sucks but at least you could make the switch.

I wouldn't mind having them with the acception that I would have a set of 18" rims laying around and the cost.

Sorry for the loss. You may also do some hunting on the board. I remember a couple of guys positng they bought the shiney wheels and wanted to off load their stock rims. Check the parts wanted to sell or buy at the bottom of the general page. Work a deal then get a quote from Mazda for new wheels. Buy from a guy online and maybe make back some of your deductible.

My deductible was $250 and the insurance company wanted a dealer invoice then they would reimburse me. Everything cost $3600 from the dealer.

Keep an eye on eBay; maybe they'll show up there. Good luck!

Just to clarify: They did break into your car and find the wheel lock nut? Was it missing? Or did they bring a similar enough one with them, or use another method (yes, there are ways) to get around it?

(sorry if i sound like a fortune cookie)

Just some quick math.................If your getting a check for $3600 from the INS company

- $250 for deductable

=$3350

Brand new Factory POLISHED wheels at Trussville......

$390 x 4 =$1560

REO40 tires $196 (tirerack) x 4 = $784

1560
784
_____
$2344

ADD 100 -200 Dollars for shipping and Mounting balancing.
around $2500 = +or- a few dollars

Over $750 profit....not bad. Thats WITH the Polished upgrade. Subtract around $400 from the final figure if you want the stock wheels (Trussville).

Not that I would want the aggravation of someone strealing my rims....BUT I wouldn't mind New Polished wheels , brand new tires and $750 cash

For Sale: 4 slightly used RX-8 rims with tires. Very good condition. Make an offer. J/k... I bet there is some Civic in Miami riding around on your rims.. If I see or hear anything I'll let you know.

Sputnik - There were no signs of forced entry. They found the wheel lock in the glove compartment that was unlocked.

This time ill have two different locks and ill hide them in the car somewhere but that will only slow them down. If they want the rims they will get them.

fritzfry - Thats not going to stop me from enjoying this car. I cant wait to get the wheels back on this car I miss driving it already!

Gyro - Tire pressure sensors arent cheap.. I dont have the invoice on me at the moment so i dont know the exact cost. Since the insurance company wanted to reimburse me I didnt want to take the chance of them not paying me because I bought different rims. If they asked for an estimate and then wrote me a check i would have 19" HRE's on order. Thats what I was hoping for but it didnt happen.

I heard about this from a buddy of mine when i was at his shop last week....like someone said earlier keep an eye on ebay and also does anyone know what other cars have the same bolt pattern....you could get lucky and see some fool in a honda riding around them. I'll also keep an eye and an ear out if they are dumb enough to sell it locally.

Where or what is Trussville? I did a search on google, and can only come up with Trussville AL? Just would like to know for my own personal reason.

Thanks
