Homestead Speedway Rolex Grand Am Oct. 9-10:

I have sent an e-mail to the marketing department for Homestead Speedway for our club participation in the 2009 Next ERA Energey Speedjam. I am asking what packages are available such as we had last year. I will let you know the response I receive. Last year's particpation by RX-8 members was lean to say the least but those that attended were well accomodated by the Homestead staff. I have asked for car show participation, possibility of parade lap with minimum car attendance and any other goodies we may have. This could be a lot of fun and a chance to get together as members.
Let all go and have a great time.

I'm sure we can get a good group going for this year. Not sure on the 9th but a definite yes on the 10th... I'm sure with some planning ahead I can open that window for the event. Keep us updated!

October 10, 2009

The car exhibit consists of two things: The show and the corral parking. The corral parking allows people to park within the track grounds on speedway blvd for display. The car show allows for the judging of 10+ categories including club participation and best of show. Here are the basic pricing;

BASIC PACKAGE:

Starts at $30 including

1 ticket to speedjam

1 ticket for corral parking or 1 ticket for car show admission

CUSTOM PACKAGE:

Starts at $45 including

1 ticket to speedjam

1 ticket for corral parking or 1 ticket for car show admission

1 paddock pass

Kids 12 & under FREE! Ages 13-16 ONLY $15

I would love to have your club come out to display your cars and for the clubs that bring 25+ cars to the event, on Sunday October 11th they will have an opportunity to do some parade laps around the oval track and the road course at speeds of 70 – 80 mph. The other option would be registering prior to September 15th deadline to have that opportunity.

Please call me or e-mail me with any questions you may have regarding this event. It would be great exposure for your club and also for full day of activities surrounding the show. If you would like me to come out to any of your meets to speak personally with your members I would be more than happy to.

Thank you again for your time.

OMG! Going! I need to prepare but I am confused.

Last year we did not need to worry about seat pricing? I.E. all seats were the same price. I guess thats different this year?

You and I were the only RX-8's in tthe show. You are right the grandstands were pretty much wide open territory. Are you considering to attend?
Best regards.

I did the Koni challenge this year but I unfortunatly missed last year.

PaPa...did you post on the Rx7 forum? I bet a few of the guys there would like to come as well. I met up with a few during the Koni event.

I guess I will just get the cheap ones...I spend more time near the paddock anyway.

Last year we had no problem going to where we wanted in the grand stands. I prefer being in the infield and around the garages anyway.

I just spoke to Alex Misrahi from Homestead Speedway. He would like to know the year RX-8 of those attending this race and participating in the Corral.
If you do not mind, please post here. Alex checks our forum on a regular basis.
Things are pretty tough right now with the economy in the crapper and not everyone has the loose change to attend. I hope we have a bunch that can.

Count me in! PaPaBear, I will be there all weekend! Any idea on how many Mazda's in the corral to expect? Will we get to do a parade lap Sunday?

Alex > 05 RX8

Right now I only see five listed to attend. I will ask Alex about the parade lap on Sunday.
I am checking with a guy I know in the RX-7 Club to see how many RX-7's are coming. Last year it was only two RX-8's in the Homestead Corral.
I see others in South Florida that have put together some meets. What a better place to meet than at a race where our champions run and we can display ours in the corral.

I wanted to let you know that anyone who purchases a paddock pass will have an opportunity to participate in a “grid walk”. The grid walk allows anyone with the pass to get on pit road prior to the race and take pictures with any driver and their car. I thought that may be something you’d be interested in and you can post it up on the forums as well.

This applies only for the Grand-Am cars so you can get up close with the Sylvain, Nick, and the rest of the speedsource team.
