Chattanooga, TN. - E. Tennessee

Jon and I have never had a car to make us enjoy driving so much! And we would like to share in others joy-machines and information!

There was some interest to start an East Tennessee 8 club, along the same lines as the Scenic City Miata Club, and we are wondering if others are interested and if the interest is enough widespread, should we make it statewide or regional?

Since we've never done anything like this, we'll need some input to get started. To all who are interested:

- Should this be city of Chattanooga, E. Tennessee, or Tennessee statewide (or even Southeast?). Depends on the amount of owners interested I guess.

- We can host an online site to share information. (Have an online registry, and maybe a private registry for members only to contact one another)

Of course, if the communication is beneficial and enjoyable, perhaps develop more.
Benefits that I see could possibly be: hobby-time and relaxing by meeting other owners, share bad experiences that happen in certain areas, share info on dealerships and treatment thereof, tips on upkeep and customizing.

We'll start by listing our names and vehicles. We will also be working on a website, so any input on that is GREATLY welcome! Also, any suggestions for the name of the website and/or 8 club. Hopefully, we will have something up and running within the next week or so. We will post here when the skeleton is complete. Anyone definetly intrested, and lists so here in this thread, we will enter into the registry when making the site.

Thanks to all and hope to see you soon!

I'm attempting to put together a similar club in the Atlanta area. I gave some thought to a SE type of approach. Maybe, if interest is there, we could work on such an approach together.

SE RX8 club with chapters in Chattanooga, Atlanta, etc.?

Thumbs up

Hmmm GodofThunder, I never thought of that! Spiffy idea!

One of my concerns was if we would have enough 8 owners in Tennessee! lol
Chapters is a great idea! An option may be to have one main site, then sub-chapters by state (city, area, etc)? Do you guys in ATL have a site or log started?

No, but would be very happy and willing wo work together on design, content, navigation, registration and the like.

I've invited everyone here in Atlanta to come to the autocross on March 15th at Turner Field. Maybe that could be a good overall get together/membership drive.

I've yet to see many Tennessee owners interested in doing much of anything. I however am always up for a drive.

Talking

Ohh GodofThunder, March 15 is great! Let's see how quick we can get the website up and running. So, should we just make the website for the SE area? Of course we can always make changes.
Maybe we should get the site up ASAP where we can advertise the meet on March 15th?

Sounds good. I was incorrect, the date of the autox is Sunday 3/14. I was thinking we could meet somewhere close to Turner Field in the morning and then do the afternoon autox seesion.

SE RX8 Club sounds good to me. As you said, we can always make changes later.

Have you looked at what Omicron has done with the Rocky Mountain club? I think there's a link in the NE forum.

Meowloud, fastrunner here... The Cleveland Mazda dealer has agreed to mail to every 8 owner they sold to (around 50) a notice about your new web site.. Just let me know the name of the site, and I'll get in touch with them... Some good "free" advertising there!

Oh WOW FastRunner!! THANK YOU!!

We have a shell of the website made up... but are working on graphics. Should have a good finished product by Sat or Sun.
I slowed us up a bit by catching a cold from washing our cars! HA HA

I'll post the address as soon as there is something presentable!

Knoxville here (Fountain City) I'm a member of RAGS, Roadster Association of the Great Smokies, the local Miata club. We meet monthly at a local resturaunt to talk cars and have a good time. Takes a lot of work to keep something like this going. Just let me know and I'll be there is possible.

WOW! We've had a LOT of interest in a SE Club! Glad to see everyone excited! (I know I can't wait for sunny days!)

Jon and I are a bit behind on the website due to me getting laryngitis. I've tried to keep up on here, and we've been able to put up a skeleton. Site should be ready for everyone's critiquing (especially God of Thunder since he has some input) by after this weekend. Sorry to take so long... but you know how it is when you're sick! (Even though I was sick, feel sorry for Jon! You know what he's had to go through! ha ha :D )

We will also have a printable 'flyer-ticket' to put on other RX8 cars if you see one anyplace you go!

I went to the main dealer here in Chattanooga, TN. (Cleveland-Gray Epperson) today and talked with Robert the main manager. He said he will help in anyway he could and even send out to the (50) previous/present buyers a 'flyer-ticket' about this website www.rx8club.com and about our new SE club!! Maybe you guys can work on your dealers to do the same!
We'll send the web address sometime this weekend!

(Unfortunately, we will be attending a wedding in Cincinnatti and won't be able to attend the Rotary Revolution)

Keep 'em revvin'!!
Jen and Jon

Wow, congrats on all the new updates on the SE-8 club. And if anyone know's me they know I never give up I just see new opportunities.

You are really close to the event in Cinci, just shoot on across after the I Do's :D

And tell that dealer we want him to shoot off something about our event (I've already got it written up for them) too
