Atlanta RX-8 Drivers??

Dear all Atlanta RX-8 drivers, I've been wondering if any of you have had the recall done on your cars yet? I've been going to the dealership (Rick Case Mazda) and asking about it and the Supervisor is like: "How did you know about the recall? Its not released to the public yet, but anyway the parts arent in" and i've been getting that for the past few weeks (been down in Atlanta for 2 weeks) and its starting to get annoying, I want this recall done so I dont have to worry about it anymore. Any and all input would be appreciated.

Yeah, dealers are not moving fast on this one. Maybe because there arent an adequate number of parts available yet. Check this post out. Could help.

This big recall sucks

For starters, do like I did, quit going to Rick Case. They are a bunch of idiots. There are other dealers, that may not be as convenient for servicing, but will do a better job, and give you less crap. Good luck with the recall.

Before I moved, I always had good luck with Mazda of Roswell. They never questioned any TSB work that I had done and were always nice folks.

There are two Jim Ellis Mazda dealers in town. One up on Cobb Parkway and the other on Peachtree Industrial I believe.

Congrats on GaTech. I finished up there this past fall. Neither Jim Ellis will do the recall until you get the letter. I've asked.

Jim Ellis off Cobb Parkway is by far the best guys, talk to Doug, he is the man and a fellow rotorhead. I need to meet up with you guys at the varsity one of these nights.

Roswell Mazda

The best service ever IMO. I have purchased 3 Mazda for them and they have done all of the service. Prices are hard to beat and Kathy Sutton is a doll to work with if you need service. Archie is the tech who worked on my car last.

What you have been told is accurate. The recall will not/cannot be done until you get the notice from Mazda. Ellis Marietta has been good to me and Doug is a good friend and will go to bat for you when he can and it doesn't hurt to mention that Mazcare referred you.
Performance Mazda in Stone Mountain was good but they are out of businness as of Friday.
Don't know anyone at Roswell but if wht05rx8 likes them I am sure they are good.

I just put 9 gallons in last night, 30 bucks. I saw one Chevron selling gas for 2.59 for regular. Oh well.

I have only had my 8 out to the hamilton mill area once, it was about a month ago. So, doubtful it was me. But It could be more, brother in law just bought a house near there.

Hey man I'll have to look you up next time I'm down there with my friends. We usually hang out down there every so often. From what I can remember there are a couple of other 8s there but nothing really done to them.

Been a long time lurker here and I finally registered. Yah, I took mine in this morning for the 2 recalls. She great. Love her. Bought mine used back in January at 10,000 miles down in West Palm Beach and drove it back to Atlanta. Right now I just rolled over to 20,000, so there's alot of stuff I'm trying to get caught up on - like this carbon buildup thing (yah, I got an AT... sorry).

welcome to the club, you will find we keep ourselves busy around here. Check the GA Club thread, and we always have new threads started for our different functions.

You are not the only AT, whenson417 has one too. It is still an 8, so you can stay. :D

We just purchased our RX8 on 8/17/2005 from Stone Mountain Mazda. I don't know if the recall work has been done on ours or not. Since they are not around I can't asked. I guess we will have to wait and see if Mazda sends us a letter. Do you think another dealer can check to see if the work has been done?

They sure can. You can get it serviced at any dealership, it does not have to be the one you bought the car at.

Yah, I just got mine back today from the dealership. Everything was fine but they did install the insulation pad and reflash my PCM. The work order was a little vague but I'm assuming it would almost have to be the R flash. The only time it was ever flashed was right before I bought it. The dealer installed the M flash (because it had flooded and wouldn't start). But I can definitely tell a small difference.

Although I did notice a small ding on the rear passenger side, AFTER I left the dealership while in the parking lot at Moe's. AAARRRRRRGGG!!!!!!!

I just had the fuel tank and ball joint recall done. The worst thing about the experience was the loaner: a Dodge Grand Caravan! I felt like a soccer mom.

The worst one was the one I did myself. Pulled into Quiktrip for fill-up, opened up my door and wacked one of those square yellow pillars - right on the square cap on top - right on the corner of it.

Left a nice dent below my door handle. urg...
