I'm selling my 2004 VR RX8 with the GT package.

Up until 2011, the car was meticulously maintained and I have the records filed in a binder to reflect this. However, I was medically discharged from the Air Force in January 2011 and have lived the life of a broke college student since then. So outside of oil changes that I did at the hobby shop, no other maintenance has been performed (roughly 28k miles). I recently graduated in December and am headed overseas next month to start a new career.

Unfortunately, the lack of maintenance reared its ugly head this afternoon as I was pulling back up to the house and the engine died as I pushed the clutch in to park. I tried to start it back up, but it just turned over. Immediately I thought coils and spark plugs since I have been throwing the misfire in cylinder 2 code off and on for some time now with the erratic idle.

I pulled the coils and found two of them to have the white burn marks on them (#2 and #4). I pulled the leading spark plug on the second rotor and it is toast. Never seen a plug that burned up before and I have to assume the other three are just as bad. I guess that's what not replacing them nets you.

I tried to troubleshoot by purchasing one new coil and replaced the #4 coil since it had the worse burn marks. I tried to start it up again and it almost made it, but sputtered out. I didn't press the issue since I figure all the plugs, coils and wires need to be replaced. I can't afford to replace them though, nor can I afford a compression test. All of my money is going toward my move and settling in country.

Up until this afternoon, the car ran great. The exterior is pretty good, save for the front bumper which turned out to have been repainted several times by the Carmax dealership because the paint is chipping badly. Yet another one of those things I can't afford to fix right now. There is a small quarter inch ding on the passenger side and small scratches around the keyholes (the remote was lost years ago).

The engine was replaced at ~38261 miles and so it has about 77k on it. Chassis is ~115k. I have a picture of this documentation in the album.

As for mods, nothing too fancy. The Volk SF Challenges have spots of rash, but still look darn good. Two different sets of tires however because I caught a nail in one of the front ones last year and ended up replacing only the fronts with a lesser cost tire. Tread is great for both front and rear though. I also will include the stock wheels and tires.

I recently had a clutch pedal issue (snapped bracket) that slowly burned my clutch out. So the clutch and pedal assembly is brand new with less than 5k miles

The Megan coil over dampers are tired; I replaced all four dampers early last year, but New Orleans roads were not kind to them. The rear passenger side is the worst and makes a rewarding "clunk" over bumps. The dampers run about $145 a piece direct from Megan Racing.

There are Progress front and rear sways and Evo-R adjustable endlinks. Also, RB exhaust and RP supercat (on its last leg as well I'm afraid), custom intake, and an Axial short shifter.

I've linked my Photobucket album that has pictures that I took today. If there is any part of the car you'd like to see up close, let me know.

Considering the cost to get the car back in running condition, I've priced it at a low $4500. I will be leaving country early next month, so my parents will be handling the sale. I'll simply be dealing with PMs and other correspondence.

I'm looking to sell ASAP, and will also be posting it on the classified sites. But given that the community here understands our cars better than anyone, I figured I'd start here first. Thanks for looking.

-DJ
