RX-8 Competition Car @ SF Auto Show

Although not much to look at when compared to a real show car, we are taking the opportunity to represent the community at the 2006 San Francisco International Auuto Show from November 18 - 26.

If you're in the area, please stop by.

Yeah, looks stock and pretty much is but kicks Z06 butt on the track with just the addition of 285/35x18s on 18x9.5 wheels, Tokico D-Spec shocks, high temp brake fluid and competition alignment:

Yes, an exaggeration under most circumstances but, on occasion, true, well, almost.

My apologies to those who have heard the story.

Once upon a time I found myself at Thunderhill Raceway Park behind the Z06 of a former SCCA Solo Street Touring - R competitor and, for 20 minutes chased him in my RX-8, putting the pressure on him under braking and in the corners. He would pull me on each straight and I'd catch him at the end of the braking zone immediately following or sometimes the next one. According to the play back of my video (not a dream), our lap times dropped 3/4 of a second each (unless we were in traffic). The Z06 driver is very capable, a track day junkie, but did admit that Thunderhill wasn't his favorite track. The session was exhilarating for us both and a memory I enjoy sharing.
