polish question

can someone quickly explain to me about car polish; just bot my rx8 and want to do a full wash/clay/wash/polish/wax(2) to protect it from the elements up here (and make it shine);
since the car is brand new, id rather cut my arm off than do anything like putting an abrasive polish on my car; obviously i have nothing i need to have taken off the paint surface, i just want a real deep shine and nice wax protection;
so my question is, is there a polish purely for aesthetic purposes, ie one that will not wear down the clearcoat but will just enhance it before waxing?;

For a non biased opinion try www.autopia.org

Lots to learn over there and they aren't all zaino freaks either.

Zaino is in Canada too

You can get Zaino , order directly from them. They are in guelph and you can pick up or have it shipped.

You should try a glaze

Wash your car then apply a glaze like Meguire's no.7 .... this will enrich you paaint with oils and stuff to make it shiny. Then apply your wax or sealant. You can try http://www.properautocare.com/mefitogl.html glaze followed by Menzena FMJ sealant and you will have one of the best shine's ......suprise yourself....

You don't need a polish. Polish is for removing dead paint or scratches. The Clay will remove impurities from shipping and a wax for shine and protection. Should be all you need for a long time.
