I'm taking my car to get 3M'ed tomorrow, but the problem is that it's going to rain like mad for the next few days. Is it ok to get it installed and drive it back home in the rain? Thanks.

I would wait to take it in. I had mine done and it ended up raining in the middle of the summer here, which is very strange. I had to leave my car in the shop for about 5 hours with a heat lamp on it. Then i drove it home, not washing it for a few days and leaving it in the garage. I haven't had any probs with it yet, but I just had it done about 4 weeks ago. To play it super careful, I'd wait. If you really need to get it done, keep it there with some light heat on it, drive it home and leave it in a garage for a few days, you will probly be fine.

I found a good site that has videos and such for applying the kits. I installed mine this weekend for the bumper, hood, fenders, and mirrors. I had previously done the door edges and trunk edge. I am a believer. I am not trying to promote sales at this site and have no affiliation I am only directing for do it yourselfers. www.clearmask.com

It's a clear polyurethane film (with adhesive) that is squeejeed onto the wet paint surface. Technique-sensitive enough to be intimidating for a novice, for you can practice with small projects like headlights, door edges, etc.

Under no circumstances I could get the right contour around the inside lower corner of the lights, so I took the whole thing off... Complex bumper profiles are not for novices :o)

I installed mine last week. First I did the mirrors since they were the smallest. Looking back it would have been easier to start with the fenders because they are not so curved. I used about two gallons of soapy water for the whole project so it slid easily into place and did not stick until I squeegied the water out from under it. It helps to start from the middle and work out. For curves in the body I used my wifes hair dryer being careful to keep it moving so I didn't get the vinyl too hot, I also installed it on a hot and humid day (98 degrees and 75 percent humidity). I will not hesitate to buy one for our next car. The bugs do a number on the paint even if I wash the car right after any long drives in the country.

To echo what bxb40 said, I was there to witness his ordeal with the front-bumper clearbra install. Not a fun project at all! Even on a professional-install job like mine, there are still some spots I am not too impressed with (ie: flared edges, skewed cuts, trimming too deep in the rear-bumper).

Raining condition would actually help with the install. The dust/pollen particles are washed away and cleaned off from the air, which makes the environment much controllable.
