Is it possible that this would happen if you had fouled or old/drifted sensors that were giving bad readings to the computer?

My rear O2 sensor broke when my cat matrix plowed through it, but I haven't changed the front sensor. However, I have an AEM UEGO in the midpipe now and it agrees with the AFR readings from the AccessPort so I don't think that's the problem.

I'm not the only one who has come across this. Are you still on the stock intake? I wonder how big of a difference that makes. I didn't get the AP until after I made my intake so I have no comparison with stock. Either way, it doesn't really matter because it sounds like you're ok and getting a different tune anyway. Just thought I'd warn you about my experience!

Autocrossed for the first time ever a couple weekends ago. Bone stock was able to get some Michelin PSS's 245/40/18 for a good deal a couple days beforehand. Dude asked me to put the gopro on my car and of course it was my worst run lol. It was the last event here for the season since its so hot in Phoenix but will be looking forward to the fall!

Nice man! Come on down to Tucson. We have an event June 26th: azbrscca.org

I've been the only RX-8 down here since I moved here last year. Though...I was usually the only one where I used to live, too. ha

Yup no RX-8's at my event either. It looks like their were some in the past from results I've read though. I might be able to make it down there :-)

I've had a few people say, "Oh, I used to have one of those..." lol

Most 8's haven't fared so well, but this one is still ticking like a clock!

It's a pretty good surface down here and not too far off the interstate. So, you should come down as long as you won't be faster than me

gents, this weekend I'll be running an event that is 12 runs total I'll be alternating every three runs between 245/40/17 RE71R and 285/30/18 Hoosier A7, I will report the performance delta :-)

Looking forward to the results! Too bad the tires aren't the same size, but I guess this is more of a real world DSP vs STX comparo, as opposed to tire shootout.
Can you post how old the tires are and how many runs are on them. I've heard the A7s have quite an increased lifespan, over the A6s.
If that's true, it should make DSP more financially accessible.

I wasn't able to do this test for the stupidest reason ever, I thought the event was sunday the 3rd but it was actually Saturday the 2nd :-( I didn't realize until 2pm or so when I saw the first fb post about it. So I'll be doing it later on. Not likely this weekend but someday soon.

The Hoosiers currently have 33 runs on them, A7's are excellent to about 100 runs then drop off between 120 and 150 runs, which is actually pretty consistent with current leading street tires. Ive already won two tires in DSP though so as long as you do well the cost drops pretty fast, I know one guy who hasn't bought Hoosiers in years :-)

Howdy Doody, every body!

I figured I'd drop a few lines on here, since it's been quiet in this thread.

Last year, I picked up Broda's STX 04 Base at Nationals, replacing my virtually stock 06 GT. I had no business competing there and couldn't have done much worse, but I still had a pretty good time. Since then, I've focused on my driving and not TOO much monkeying with the set-up, as it was good enough for Broda to get a trophy! (It was great to see the proof that I didn't buy a dud!)

While I haven't made it to as many events as I wanted to, this year, I managed to do pretty well at my last event. 1st in STX and PAX'd 6th, behind a "Driver of Eminence" and a few other people who have won trophies at Nationals and at Tour events. So, I'm feeling pretty good about things this year, especially since I couldn't do much worse than I did last year!

So, who else is going to Nationals?!

Thanks! You can definitely ride along whenever, as long as I'm not feeling overly competitive. ha

By my count there are 85 drivers registered in STX at Nationals! Amazingly large field. There are 6 RX-8s, including me...who else?

Anyone need / want a set of 17x9 TRMotorsport C3 w/ 245 Rival S (12 autocross runs)? 2x wheels are brand new. 2x wheels are in excellent condition. They've been scrubbed in and are ready for Lincoln... I'll deliver to Lincoln $1200 OBO. Please... just need them gone!

Nathan, I had been reading back on some of your experimentation with shock/spring combos, and I'm wondering what you settled on. Is the info in your sig the latest? And did you have the shocks revalved for the springs?

still on 10/7, I had the shocks revalved by bilstein to suit the spring rates, seems to be working well in DSP so far. I have plans to go to 14/10 and revalve accordingly, but not until after Nationals

There's certain value to be had with spec'in out dampers which are the proper length, tuned for solo, adjustable and rebuildable. If you're going to spend the time and effort building and competing in the car, you should look further than the bilsteins.

Totally agree with Jeff here, if you want to be any more than casual with it, bring the right tools for the job from the outset. Just finding out what someone settled on isn't the best approach, without exploring why they settled there. My setup is pretty heavily compromised and not likely to be all that competitive in Lincoln, so take that into account.

Fair enough. But it does seem to be decent equipment, and there are a lot of options out there. Always helps to learn what others are having success with, though.

ZiG, I'm open to selling you my set of Bilsteins (recently revalved and rebuilt by bilstein) and the associated parts.

dampers
springs 10k/7k main springs, hyperco helper springs
threaded sleeves and adjustable perches
front and rear top hats and OEM hardware/grommets etc for basic bolt on installation.

These work just fine, but I just don't have the time to invest into making them work competently at a national level. I'm just going to save up enough money for a top tier "easy button" suspension solution. If you have the time and knowledge to deal with these than you're welcome to make and offer. I'll send you my number via PM if you're interested
